Leo Christoph Waltz Samuel L. 10/10 wow. quite possibly Tarantino's best film yet. Leo and Waltz should both receive Oscar nominations. Also fortunately Foxx didn't ruin the film as many (including myself) were worried about. He did a pretty good job. I definitely will be seeing again.

Saw it this afternoon and it was simply fantastic. The acting, the dialogue everything was right up there with the best Tarantino has done. To me Sam Jackson put in a great performance worthy of Oscar consideration, as did Leo and Cristoph Waltz. This film will be up for many academy awards for sure!

Waltz better win an Oscar for this, he was absolutely brilliant. Movie was great and funny too. Without spoiling anything, there was a very Family Guy-esque scene in the middle that had the entire theatre laughing.

nomination for sure, but don't hold your breathe on him winning. if anything I think that Leo has the slight edge. throughout the first half of the film I thought that Waltz had it on lock, but then Leo won me over in the second half. however this could be argued either way because they were both incredible. the sad thing though is that BOTH of them were snubbed by the SAG awards this year. neither of them even nominated so that pretty much eliminates the chances of either of them winning. the SAG's also snubbed Joaquin Phoenix of a nomination for "The Master" as well and that was easily the best acting performance of the year (and yes I'm counting DDL). I think they'll all get nominated for Oscars, but won't win.

Ok...Time for an overreaction. But.. This might be the best "Supporting Acting" I've seen since The Godfather. All the major supporting Actors nailed it. (Waltz, Leo, Sam Jackson) All of them deserve to be nominated. Waltz and Jackson with Tarantino = Nuff Said. But DiCaprio? My God. Normally when I watch his movies I say "This is Leo playing this character, etc. etc) After a while I just viewed him as Candie. He BECAME that character. He was tremendous. Jamie Foxx didnt ruin the movie and was VERY GOOD! I cant wait for the 3hr 30 minute version on DVD next year.

yeah, I put this on Kill Bill's level as far as Tarantino movies go. Not as good as Reservoir, Pulp, or Inglorious.

i think both kill bill's are better. better dialogue/tension and without the disruptive silly bits that don't fit kill bill didn't try to be as much as django, and it exceeded in doing what it meant to a lot better i think django is tarantino's 2nd worst movie behind that grind house bull shite he did with rodriguez

The Kill Bills are the only two Tarantino films I do not like at all. It's a bad kung fu knock off, and really, the only part I enjoyed was the anime sequence. I can't take anyone seriously who thinks Django is silly yet then praises Kill Bill. I mean, two words: Pussy Wagon. Kill Bill is a ridiculously silly film. So is Death Proof, but Death Proof is sort of awesome in that it has great stunts, a sense of fun, and Kurt Russell. And its silliness has a great payoff in the end.

i posted in more depth about that in the other thread. kill bill didn't have anything (at least that i can remember) that was as jarring to the rhythm of a movie's tone as the "mask" scene in django

i think django was a bad spaghetti western knock off, and KB did a better job of being a kung fu movie knock off

i'll say it's absurd, but it's kind of meant to be absurd. you didn't have absurdity mixed in with a super serious tone or overall commentary about morality intermingling with its absurdist revenge plot it was what it was. an homage to the over the top kung fu revenge flicks. nothing more. nothing less. and it did it well i grew up loving kung fu movies and anti-hero westerns, and i think django kind of bastardized the latter while kill bill was in the spirit of the former. i'm not claiming the kill bills were amazing movies or anything
