| Les Mis - Anyone Else Going Today? (Posted on 12/25/12 at 1:49 pm)
i get that most people don't have an appreciation for musicals. i get that they're an acquired taste. but i grew up to this soundtrack and story. i could not be more excited to go see it today. the cast is amazing. while i loved the last one that came out ... none of the music was included. hugh jackman is going to blow my socks off.

Yet another thing we have in common, but you fail to.......never mind. I guess I just dreamed a dream.

One of the few times I saw my grandfather cry was when we went to see Les Miz. I hope this one is one tenth as good!

We went to an 11:00 AM showing this morning that was packed. I was afraid my 26-year-old son wouldn't enjoy it as much as I would. Everyone in my family thought it was fabulous! Anne Hathaway deserves an oscar nomination for her rendition of *I Had a Dream* alone. The entire cast was awesome. However Russell Crowe was a little too bland.

saw it this afternoon thought it was amazing, even though we underestimated the crowd so we didn't get the best seat. second favorite movie of the year so far. Hobbit #1

I love it when M/TV Board goes on the offense against close-minded posters and posts. It's about the story!

Screen version of Phantom disappointed me. This did NOT disappoint. Anne Hathaways performance of "I DREAMED a Dream" was amazing. Although Marius had a decent voice, the character calls for a better looking actor.

Just got back from watching it with my wife and her family. I've never seen the play, but now I feel like I have to go. It was a great movie.

From what it sounded like in the preview Jackman sounded weak. Should they have done a Colm Wilkinson Voiceover?

The Lady and I are going to see it tomorrow. I'm actually pretty excited about it, which is not something I'd normally say about a musical.

there were a couple of moments in the movie I thought his voice could have used some work, a couple of moments I thought it would have been better to stick closer to the melody then his let me sound like I'm speaking. But it was very effective in many parts of the movie going for a slightly more realistic feel then a strict musical feel.

Interesting, but that sounds like it would work. Is "the confrontation" more on the realistic dialogue side?

a. i, personally, thought anne was amazing. my mother did not. she said that anne was too cry-y. b. we both agreed crowe wasn't terrible, but not what we had built him up to be. c. cosette was perfect. for that dumbass blonde who plays the worst roles..... she was fabulous. her voice... wow. d. marius was gorgeous and sang like a lark. i found him to be believable and fantastic.

Colm Wilkinson plays the Bishop. Alfie Boe should have played Valjean. Jackman's singing of "Bring Him Home" was cringeworthy.
