A bit outside Baton Rouge, but I hope no one minds some boys from Bunkie stopping by: The Barracudas - "Baby Get Lost" (1965) According to a list of the rarest '60s garage punk records, only 4 copies of this single are known to exist. The raucous screamer from Bunkie high school students is considered a classic by collectors. It sounds kinda odd b/c the record was accidentally speeded up during pressing (a not uncommon occurrence for startup record companies that could not afford a repressing). This version has been slowed down and probably sounds more like originally intended. Band members: John Haas (vocals) Terry Fontanille (lead guitar) Alex Haas (drums) Tommy McNabb (bass) The Barracudas of Bunkie: John Haas would go on to the fondly-remembered Isosceles Popsicle. Anybody know any of these guys? Or anything about them? Something tells me there is an interesting story here.

Has anybody mentioned LeRoux and it's predecessor the Jeff Pollard Band?

C'vello played all the time at the tiger and those guys would rock out during sound check. The album that they released wasn't as cheesy as there dance cover songs but they had to pay the bills

Richard Harris played with Isosolis(sic) Popsicle. He owns a studio now and is almost retired.

I remember one of the local radio stations holding a contest to choose the name of Retzlaff's new band. There was a big party at the Speakeasy on Stanford to debut the new name "Potliquor".

When I was a kid in the late '70s that building was a 7-11. Somehow somewhere I heard it had been a "speakeasy" -- back in the '20s!! I only learned the facts few years ago. Any stories about The Speakeasy? When did it close?

If that building is even still there and those walls could talk. I saw every old dead blues guy and burnt-out '60s rock band you could think of in that place. It became a convienence store around 1974.

Hell yes, she was a very good vocalist and Jerry was a trip of a Guitarist to watch. He played in another band later that I can't remember the name of. Thanks for the memory!!
