AIPAC doesn't support Obama now, and like I said he isn't running for jack. If the D's revolt on this nomination they are not going to suddenly have to not tow the line on other issues, AIPAC only controls ME policy.
The real question is what would the Senate do, since they are nutless and controlled by AIPAC, Hegel has no chance of confirmation.
I'd like to see the hearings, it would be illuminating.

Bibi being a jerk to Obama and openly supporting his enemies makes his nomination more likely. Add to that the continuing settlement building policies and the wide world condemnation mainly from European countries.

You're talking about political capital which is meaningless to second-term presidents who are willing to spend it all. And sure, they can ruin his second term if they want to, but not without hurting the country, their party and destroying their own careers, and I don't see Feinstein and Schimer as the kamikaze types.

When Iran finally produces its atomic bomb, I for one will be very glad to know Isreal has the ability to take it down, whereas Hagel will still be negotiating with the criminals who run that country. As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemies is my friend, and Isreal is the only friend the US has in that part of the world.That there are extremist on both sides goes without saying. But in the big picture, I'll take Mosad & its capabilities as one of the good guys out there.
