With the departure of Rodney Garner official, it is now time to turn the attention to who Grantham goes after for this open position. I have read various sites throughout the day and here are the recurring names that are being thrown around.
Please bear in mind these are not names I am making up, however names that various UGA sites have listed as possibles.
College names
Tony Grantham - Navy (Todd's brother)
Odell Haggins - FSU
Cornell Brown - VT
Chris Kiffin - Ole Miss
Chris Rumph - Alabama (previously worked with TG)
Pro names
Travis Jones - New Orleans Saints
Phillip Daniels - Washington Redskins
Tracy Rocker - Tennessee Titans
Giff Smith - Buffalo Bills

Hey guys, I understand your plight, but UGA could be in a position to wait for the NFL season to be over and make a move. Gus may have his staff filled by then.
Serious question though; do you guys really expect Rocker to come to Auburn when a DL coach is already in place just because he wants to come home? Where would you guys put him, TE's?

We're hearing if we pull it off Garner will go to TEs, or they'll split the DE/DT duties.

Gotcha. Well, good luck from here on out with the hires. You guys have a good man in Garner, I just think Grantham wanted to move in another direction with the DL and Garner was the beneficiary by being able to move back near his hometown and his alma mater. Our guys are saying that Grantham really wants to go with an NFL guy to be able to pitch recruits that every coach on Defense has NFL experience and knows what it takes to get to the league. Should be fun.

He's a baby back beeyotch and can stay out of Athens. Maybe if he had handled the recruitment of his son better I might be more receptive not to mention there are many more highly qualified candidates.

Tony Grantham - don't know anything about him, the fact that he's at Navy makes me skeptical
Odell Haggins - I'd be ok with this one
Cornell Brown - meh
Chris Kiffin - only if he brings Nkemdiche with him, and still probably not
Chris Rumph - Heck yes. Great coach, 3-4 experience, serious connections in Ga.
Travis Jones - would be a great hire, serious baggage though
Phillip Daniels - no experience as a coach or recruiter, unknown
Tracy Rocker - Best available option, sticking it to Auburn would be a bonus
Giff Smith - would be solid

The rumor is we're still getting Rocker, him and Garner will split the DE/DT duties. I've also heard that we offered him, he turned it down, so we went to Garner. If that's the case, I don't see why he would go to UGA if he already turned down the same spot at his alma mater.
Malzahn said today that we have 1 more defensive spot to fill, and most think it will either be Rocker or Tyrone Nix (who would coach LBers). Gus was asked today if it was possible that we could have 2 coaches splitting duties on the DL, and he completely side-stepped the question. Could be a hint

I know he's not on the initial list but richt should consider pete kwiatowski from boise. They had 3 linmeman drafted this past year including a first rounder and they are regarded as maybe the most technically proficient lineman in college
