What? Haha, I'm pretty much laughing over here. The point is these people don't even get into politics in the first place because of what is involved with being a career politician, so we can't possibly know who they are... The quote below really isn't difficult to understand. You are obsessed with going against anything I say, you're more than welcome to disagree with this, but at least disagree properly. This is not difficult to grasp.

I get the feeling you believe there is some novel shite pinging around that caveman head of yours. Or maybe you know you're full of shit, but your own voice just sounds so damn good to you. Either way, thanks for the entertainment.

They make more money doing what they do rather than politics They don't like public speaking They have no inclination for public service They might have to move (or at least maintain 2 residents) Cost of campaigning Great character and great at what they do but does not transcend to politics Do not want to go through the public scrutiny (especially with today's social media access) Spouse tells them not no but hell no Kids tell them not no but hell no Many, many more reasons. Your reasons: sleazy politics phoniness of politics

I'm sure all of those reasons keep certain people out of politics. But it is also true that some people refrain from getting into it because of it doesn't suit their character.. they would never want to get involved with what it takes to be a successful career politician. (The gap thing is pretty lame.. just so you know, I know it's a popular thing around here though).

I'm sure our political process discourages a lot of decent people from seeking public office, and is responsible at least in part, for our congress being filled with power hungry attention whores. I certainly won't argue against that. Term limits could possibly cull the herd a bit, but what else could you realistically do about it?

Term limits would be one thing to combat the current political arena. Germany has had great success with adopting this concept. A lot would have to change for things to get better, probably things that are hard to define, like some of our culture and values in general.. I understand your hesitation to think we can't do much about it. I'm more or less was just making an observation that our system discourages a lot of quality people from seeking office.

You are right I believe people who suffer from this, will not do well in politics. Individuals with Paranoid Personality Disorder are generally difficult to get along with and often have problems with close relationships. Their excessive suspiciousness and hostility may be expressed in overt argumentativeness, in recurrent complaining, or by quiet, apparently hostile aloofness. Because they are hypervigilant for potential threats, they may act in a guarded, secretive, or devious manner and appear to be "cold" and lacking in tender feelings. Although they may appear to be objective, rational, and unemotional, they more often display a labile range of affect, with hostile, stubborn, and sarcastic expressions predominating. Their combative and suspicious nature may elicit a hostile response in others, which then serves to confirm their original expectations.

Meh, poor timing. My post before your degrading attempt was polite and cooperative. You should have waited to drop this bomb when I was going off on somebody. 4/10. Effort and substance was there, but poor timing ruined the burn.

I can reference books without reading them. I can find superficial comparisons or thoughts from them and throw them in my posts. But that does not mean that I've read them. If you've actually read Dostoevsky, you would know that he is completely antithetical to Thoreau. From this, I know that you have not read at least one of these authors and have just thrown them in your posts to make yourself sound intelligent.

I'm pretty sure that Che Guevara and Scott Avett are rather 'antithetical'.. one is okay with killing, the other gets sick at the sight of fighting. Those two men were listed, and I seem to draw influence from both of them.

Haha, you didn't think I'd be able to have a quality response for your boomer. You said I have two influences that are antithetical and because of that it proves I have not read anything that I've claimed to have read. I showed you how two of my other influences are extremely antithetical.. and I seem to draw influence from both of them.

I'm really not sure what point you're trying to make. I guess I'd say I don't think there are too many that reached high levels of our government, the career politician game has been this way for a long time.
