re: How does the Poli board feel about military disability?

I think they totally earned it. However, I am worried about it's potential corrosive effect on motivation.

Let's take guy who has an actual problem: a bad back. When it goes out he is basically paralyzed, the rest of the time there is constant dull pain.

If he is on 80% disability, he has little motivation to find job. Or to work to keep it if he gets one. He can always fall back on disability. At some points he figures "what the heck, I should go 100%."

Disability payments have just removed the motivation for someone who could have been a produtive contributor to society (even if not 100% of the time).

That said, it would be a crime to NOT support someone who injured themself while serving their county. I really don't have a solution; just a cautionary tale that even the BEST intentioned, most deserved government programs can and will go wrong.

Report them.
If they are scamming the government as you assert in this case, you'll never have to work again after collecting your whistleblower fees.

You've found your calling . . . .

Probably depends on each case. It's not fair to compare a guy who lost a limb to a guy with a far less serious issue. We fired a guy at work who was pathetically lazy. I used to know the exact number, but I forget what it is now. It was at least 800 dollars a month, but I want to say it is a lot more than that... I just can't remember. He had some kind of 'breathing issue' but he admitted to us a number of times that there was really nothing wrong with him..
you are so full of shit

How does one just go from 80% to 100%? What is the process?

Link to where there are fees and how much you get paid please. I know the IRS gives you 20% or something on recoveries over 2 million but I don't know how much you get, if any, for reporting fraudulent doctors.

You don't get to choose your doctor, the VA or the SSA send you to their contract doctors.

The truth that you're a troll? I don't know, I guess that would hurt to realize.

I've done nothing narcissistic in this thread. Standing up for myself when called out about not serving the military is not narcissistic. Explaining my life's path and how it didn't lead to the military has nothing to do with narcissism.

Now enjoy quote sniping, or writing a comment that makes it look like you've had the upper hand in this conversation.

in some cases, like in SSD cases or law suits (car wreck for ex.) where there is a lawyer involved and the patient goes to the doctor the lawyer recommends, then yes they are in on a scam. In most cases I think it is just that the doctor has connected in some way with the patient and just wants to help him out, not really looking at it like a scam.

re: How does the Poli board feel about military disability?

quote:

There is significant abuse in VA disability as well as Social Security disability and SSI disability. All three should be tightened up. They should also look at concurrent receipt and have some sort of cap on total government compensations. Entitlements earned and entitlements for the dysfunctional have to all be tightened up and reduced to what we can afford. Congress cannot continue to spend money we will have to be paying off for generations.

I think that is something we should all be able to agree on
