| Which leaves a worse taste in your mouth? (Posted on 12/12/12 at 8:33 pm)
1)This year, having this season forcibly stolen from us, wasting a year of our golden era Brees/Payton Super Bowl window of opportunity. Not to mention, a crack at playing for it in the dome. (Yes I am aware of the <1% chance we still have) 2)Last year, having the best team in Saints history going to San Fran, and then having our hearts ripped out with last second defeat. Then to add salt in the wound, Green Bay loses and we would have hosted Giants. Goodell can eat and AIDS dick and die for what he's done to us this year, but for me, last years playoffs hurt worse than not making it at all this year.

3) Your Mom! ETA: This year. Because we didn't have a fair chance and were singled out to make an example of.

Last year was pretty fricking awful. I would have bet my house that we would have beaten both the Giants and the Patriots. Stupid mothefricking hard headed arse GW cost us that game. Incredible drive by the offense only to be pissed away. That really was one of the best games of the year, but it was so damn heartbreaking. This year it was really out of our control. We got fricked bc of the NFLs agenda and there was no way we could recover this season from what they did to us. Thankfully I expect Payton to have revenge in his mind next year.

last year hurt way worse...it may because I've had a lot of stuff outside of the Saints going on but after the initial 0-4 start and realizing we just got prison raped by the league I've just been kind of numb and enjoying each game for what they are.

Without question. This season would have turned out better with SP around but last year the Saints were the best team in football and to have lost they way they did was brutal.

The way the season ended last year in San Francisco for me. That was fricking brutal. This season doesn't have squat on the disappointment I felt for weeks following that game.

Yeah, I maintained hope each week and hung on to every scenario, but it just felt like if we ended up making the playoffs, then hell yes its house money. On the other hand I felt if we didn't make it, everyone knows it's because this season we were forced to enter a juggling contest with both arms tied behind our back.

This was my #1 heart breaker until the Vernon Davis TD. I guess because we had never made it to the Super Bowl, I wanted that Chicago game so very badly.

Last season will sting for a long time. We were thrown into an awful situation this season, and although I had a high amount of optimism, it was just too much to overcome. The team last year was not only the best Saints team ever, but arguably the greatest offense of all time, especially the 2nd half of the season when they really hit their stride. I had a good feeling that NY would beat GB. There's no doubt we would've beat their arse in the dome. Last season should've been a Superbowl year, it will hurt me for a long time. I am just ready for this season to end, move on, and get back at it next year.

I did too, 2006 was a crazy ride. 2009 blew it away but,..I still get angry about losing that game. Especially the shite their fans were saying, if we would have won that game we would have been superbowl champs. if we had beat san fran, we would have re-owned the Giants. Just stopped 1 more drive.."finished strong".

Last year without a doubt. The SF loss was brutal. That one hurt bad.

Last year, having the best team in Saints history
How is that possible when the defense was absolutely putrid? I can see the best offense in franchise history, but can't see entire team. Roger isn't the fault this year, IMO. It doesn't matter who coached the defense that is last in the league in every statistical category, the Saints are what they are. You can't win every shoot out you play. If the defense was even 15th in league right now, the team would be in the playoffs with an improving defense at the best time of the season. Last year, injuries and sub par personnel lost the game at SF.

I agree with what you said about the defense, but quite frankly the offense wasn't up to snuff either, for the most part. I understand it is still a good offense, but it is missing the oomph that puts it from "good" to "unstoppable". The Saints, with Payton calling plays, can basically score at will. Not only did we lose our HC for the season, but our assistant head coach and LBers coach for half a season, which affects the offense and defense, and we lost our best defensive players for half of the season as well. Combine the good rogering (see what I did there?) Goodell handed the team with injuries and Brees' bad play for the last few games, and it's a formula to fail.

Last year was more depressing. There is no telling if the Saints would have had a better season if we had SP for the year. We can assume we would have had a better season, but you never know.

If Brees only throws 4 interceptions over the last 3 games instead of 9, were also probably in the playoffs. It's a pretty easy game to play and I'm tired if everyone bashing the defense. They got their shite together starting all the way back in the Philly game really while the offense has continued to fall on its face. I think it's time for everyone to stop blaming one particular part if the team for this years struggles Bc the truth is, the deck was stacked against us from the start.

the defense wasn't exactly great in 09 either...just played some great situational defense and got a bunch of turnovers. Its a offense driven passing league anyway now. Last year's team was incredible.
