I know many feel we should cut regular entitlements but, should this include VA disability as well?

I see this widely abused as well. People trying and sometimes getting disability through the VA on shite that is in no way service related.

I know it would be political suicide but how does the board feel about it personally? Is it our responsibility to take care of the guys? Fwiw I don't really have a huge problem paying for it. I think if we weren't at war for 12 years it wouldn't be such a problem though.

Probably depends on each case.
It's not fair to compare a guy who lost a limb to a guy with a far less serious issue.
We fired a guy at work who was pathetically lazy. I used to know the exact number, but I forget what it is now. It was at least 800 dollars a month, but I want to say it is a lot more than that... I just can't remember.
He had some kind of 'breathing issue' but he admitted to us a number of times that there was really nothing wrong with him..

Go sign the contract, repeat the oath, make your mind and body what is called Government Issue(you are considered mo more or less than a piece of equipment) then get your arse F'ed by something like say a bullet, an IED, a mortar. Then get back to us and say you don't deserve military benefits of a certain amount or above. What did that family on welfare et al of benefits do to earn and keep thier payments?

Take it easy, I said I don't have a problem paying for it. I just think our politicians are making it worse by staying in wars for over a decade. I'm just curious how people feel about it.

Stress and chemical exposure that dulls the brain's ability to sustain their body cause sleep apnia...that's the breathing problem he may be talking about...
Therefore the government doesn't fight it if doctors do sleep study on those that come down with it during service.
Cheaper to pay it than argue...apnia does have long term terrible effects...hbp, heart disease, death from low oxygen in the blood

If he somehow fooled the sleep study (unlikely), then he doesn't have anything wrong with him, that is fraud...
They will stop payment under a more intense study

If a medical professional has determined the guy suffered a military related medical disability, I'm not in any position to second guess it.
Just because the guy says he's okay doesn't mean he is. He might be trying not to look weak....sort of like you on this board.

The guy was a pathetic human being, late to work all the time, lazy and just a degenerate of a human being. Kids with two women. A smoker, a drunk, a creep... would constantly make women at work feel uncomfortable.
He admitted it was a joke that he got as much as he did, he wasn't too bright.. he didn't think we'd think less of him for saying that.
The things you defend are truly amazing.
He had an apparent breathing issue, yet he took two smoke breaks an hour. Hmm. Cigs paid for by the American taxpayer.

That's such a pathetic argument.
I thought we were talking about disability. If anyone denies that some people take advantage of it they're denying the truth. I'm not against disability, I just wish people didn't take advantage of it so it could go to the people that truly deserve it. Speaking out about his doesn't mean I'm not patriotic.
A little news flash, not all people that don't serve are pathetic. It's not my fault that I came up with a private education and got a college scholarship to play a sport. That isn't my fault that I took advantage of an opportunity to play college hockey instead of serving my country.
