now, 9mm or .40? IIRC, 9mm holds one more round. .40 bullets are a little more expensive (or is it a lot more? also, anyone own or have fired the gun before? is it a good purchase? accessories? i kinda want to put a laser on that bitch

Why no laser? Just night sights?

i just bought one off GunBroker (9mm) -- supposed to be delivered to my FFL today. I'll know after I put a couple of thousand rounds through it whether or not it's gonna qualify as a BUG for me. Lasers ??? Unless you have a vision problem that prevents your seeing the sights, I think lasers serve as a well-marketed crutch that will usually impede one's target acquisition and rate of fire. I do have a couple of friends (one a retired State Trooper with a lot of experience in their SWAT unit and as a firearms instructor for LSP) who is close to having to go to a RDS for his carry gun. This isn't something he'll do until he absolutely has to -- cause "iron sights" are faster. And iron sights don't have batteries that might die just before you do. For people who have really poor but correctable (with glasses or contacts) vision, one could make the case for having a laser as a "back-up" sight system for "middle of the night, don't have time to put in my contacts" scenario. But even then, gaining competency with the "iron sights" should be a higher priority.

Mine is in 9mm. Love it.

Again, love it. Bought it for the gf to keep in a safe for home protection, I would post the pics of her shots (not her, gfy for those that ask ) if I could, you can get them off of my twitter @ixisweat. Very difficult to find, had to camp out at academy at 8am for a few weeks before I found one and bought it before they even put it on the display.

Just no. ETA Just for a little more info, the gf doesnt like the trigger pull, but its really not bad at all. She just has really tiny hands, and even with that, she shoots it really well. Comes with two mags, a 7 rounder and an 8 rounder, and they cost $40 apiece for extras online.

I've fired the 9mm shield and it is a fine gun. It shoots very well for such a tiny gun and is a very compact size for IWB carry. My buddy got one as his first gun and he loves it. It runs like a top. Also if you can't find one but still want to have a good single stack 9mm, I'll also suggest my Kahr CM9. It has been nothing but good to me and also runs like a top. I've fired close to 5000 rounds through it and it keeps chugging. And some people bash a laser but it is good for a couple of reasons. 1 it's got an intimidation factor. 2 it allows you to shoot with both eyes open. 3 it allows you to point-shoot. I wouldn't put one on something bigger like the shield but my dad loves his on his Kahr P380.

Personal preference really, but I have never liked the .40 round. Too snappy 9mm is the best out of the two IMO, but .45 is

Red or green? Why are you selling it? Would it fit? How much? Everyone is saying 9. I was leaning towards .40 before this thread

I have one that'll fit a Remington 870 -- you get double intimidation. 1. Rack the slide. If the thug doesn't run (apparently 89% will, according to internet lore)........ 2. Activate the laser. Then everybody runs away (and you save ammo). On a serious note, tried the new 9mm Shield today. It functioned fine, which is all I ask of a brand new pistol. I'll learn more about its reliability over the next few weeks.

I bought the .40 about six months ago and I am still in love with it. Best conceal pistol I have ever shot. I think you should go for the larger caliber. You won't regret it. I am really impressed with the little but of recoil it has. Also very accurate. Either way you go, I think know you will be very pleased.

I have not tried or heard of anyone that has made any adjustments. What would you like to change about the trigger?

I am #4 on the waiting list at Jim's for 2 9MM Sheilds. They only recevied 5 in November so hoping I get mine before the end of the month. My dad gets one for Xmas. I tried the Sig P290RS but the Trigger was turrible. It was like a long trigger on a revolver.
