Valid question. I say look at the intent of the founders of this country and the Constitution. They believed in a limited government. This government would cover essentials like military expenditure roads, bridges. When you start taking money away from people to give to others, that's when it becomes theft. Everyone can use a road, not everyone can use a welfare check

I don't mind taxes for roads, bridges, sewers, armies, navies, parks. That stuff all benefits the public at large. We all get to use the road, the army and navy are there to protect all of us, we can all use the parks, etc., etc.
You start to lose me when you take from one individual and hand it over for the exclusive
benefit of another individual.
