to the State of Texas. These people need to understand they are leaving the State of California for a reason. Hopefully they learn to adapt to our culture!

Austin is the "Little California", one reason I never go there...It is far from representative of the rest of the State. It has everything to do with the fact that UT is there.

Texas could use more liberals and California could use more conservatives. Polarizations is what's wrong with the country. Everybody's in an enclave surrounded by like minded people.

There certainly are not a lot of people like me living in the DC area - which was the crux of my post. And that was too subtle for your feeble thought process to cope with apparently.
There are quite a few people like me in the actual House of Representatives if that has escaped your notice also.

There are a lot of good conservative people in CA.
Problem is there are vast numbers of idiots.
Any sane state could use those folks who are finally fed up with the situation there. The ones we don't want love it there, and would never leave.

I wanted to keep reading this thread, but I just couldn't let this one go.
I am a libertarian. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE AUSTIN. I have lived in the south (B'hm, NO, and Gainesville), and none of those places are better to live in than Austin. What makes Austin GREAT is that people are welcoming and tolerant of everyone's differences. You can be a hippy or a conservative nut, and no one will treat you differently. It is a great place to live, unique, and by golly please "Keep Austin Weird".
Regarding the influx of CA people. I think people who left CA they left for a reason. You are usually not going to get the ultra liberal drone here, you get affluent educated people who come here. Usually they have liberal inclinations, and they are misguided a lot of times, but Texas psychology catches on pretty quickly. They left CA for a reason- and it wasn't the weather, beach, or national parks.
