I do usually, I set my ps3 controller up for when I drive though. It is much easier for driving.

just picked up the whole GTA4 series for $30 on steam b/c I couldn't wait until the december sale started again 
Also picked up a wired xbox360 controller to use on for steam games like GTA and Batman that really suck to use a keyboard and mouse on. works so much better than the rigged up crap I had to go through to use my ps3 controller.

Does the joystick work? I got the basics of the ps3 to work but the joysticks don't. Also did you have to configure all the controls or did they work from the start?

I didn't have to configure anything at all.
When I used my ps3 controller for steam games I had some software I installed that had to be configured. Sometimes it would just randomly stop working and I'd have to alt-tab out of the game to "save" the settings all over again, it was such a giant pain in the ass. I decided to go with the xbox360 controller specifically because it's a windows based controller, so I figured it should work pretty seamlessly...so far so good.
