At my school, financial accounting is one of the most failed courses. I had the worst instructor yet ended up with nearly a 100 average. I think 75 percent of the reason so many people failed that class is due to lack of effort, but I still sympathize with those who fail because it's a hard class and the instructor could have done more. I don't know the circumstances behind the OPs situation and neither do you, but all Im saying is that it's laughable to suggest he drop out of college because he failed one course.

My vast experience has led me to believe that Finance/Accounting types are "less socially amicable" and Marketing/Mgt types are "more socially pliable"

Many people also pass college while being lazy and hardly ever studying. Then they go on to have successful careers. What is your point?

Not really. Most business majors in general are "socially pliable" but finance and accounting majors graduate with more technical expertise, and are more attractive job candidates.

The dude didn't fail the class because the teacher screwed him. He is probably a lazy kid with no motivation and no idea what he wants to do. You can't blame a professor for your own problems. He is also probably pretty dumb, too. That is besides the point though.

i've never taken stahl but I saw his test. It is so much harder. Katayma questions usually come from his slides. The op was probably one of those people who never went to his class. Cause no one ever went to Katayama class lol

When I had him, Katayama let people argue back points on every test, when the students were usually wrong.
He also let our final grade replace a bad test grade if we did better on the final.
He was very reasonable.

I took several classes with stahl (i would have to go find my transcript to see how many - now i feel old - frick you - ok i am digressing) his class could be difficult. his grading policy was if you had a dispute on the grade he would regrade the ENTIRE test. so in other words, if he (or his grad assistant) made a grading error you just lived with it because you would absolutely get a lower overall grade on the re-grade.

I liked Stahl a lot. I took him for 3 of my 9 core courses. Definitely have to get used to his teaching style

The difference is that an accounting major could get a sales job, but a marketing major will probably never be a controller.

Exactly. In the 4000 level courses, people knew better at that point. But we did have one girl scream "I cant do it!", start balling, and run out of the room during the International Trade final.

Mgmt/mkt majors are the fat chicks of the business school. Of course they have to be nice. The hot girls are usually bitchy. It's the way the world works.
