| Does anyone here buy Jos A Bank suits then get them tailored independently? (Posted on 12/11/12 at 1:58 pm)
They are having one of their Buy 1 Suit Get 3 Free sales and I'm thinking about grabbing 4 suits for cheap and getting them professionally tailored to look good. Can they adjust everything? i.e. the jacket width, shoulders, arm length, pant width, inseam, etc.

I do the opposite. I actually buy nice suits and get them tailored at Jo A Banks.

How much should the tailoring run per suit? I like a tight, well fit suit.

You actually get an extra $25 off for every $125 spent. I really don't have $650 to spend on suits right now, nor do I need 4 new suits.

Agreed, and I'm sure it's possible, but it better be a hell of a good tailor. It's just that my one experience with JAB was so very bad. Their sizing was just horrible. Coupled with the fact that I do not have to wear a suit everyday, I just decided to go for the more expensive made to measure option for my three suits. And to the people that automatically throw BB out there as an expample of a good suit, they have their issues too.

I have one nice Italian suit I wear for job interviews, non-wild weddings, and non-wild funerals. I need some suits I won't care about wearing all the time and getting hammered in. I'm 25 and I have one wedding to attend per month for the next 2 years it feels like.

HEED THIS WARNING The suits are over priced shite. The sales associates suck a dick, and they don't tailor in house so you technically have to have it done independently. Regardless of what they tell you, they send it out to be tailored and you pay for it anyway. My brother just recently got married and all the guys bought suits from there. The suits no matter the tailoring done, fit terribly imo. The shoulders are stuffed with so much padding you could take on a tackle from Ray Lewis. I for one had to spend 150 bucks on my suit just to get the fricking thing to fit the way i wanted it. If you want a basic suit and don't care how it fits you, go for it. I prefer suits that don't hang off me like a cheap shawl.

I buy the sportcoats or blazers for $100, get them tailored at another place. I have two in the closet right now waiting on. Think there is a place in the mall but I'm not sure how expensive she is.

I'm willing to spend this on each suit. That would mean each suit would fit me well, fully tailored, and in total be less than 300$. I hate the padding too. I like a tight suit around the shoulders that doesn't hang off anywhere. Just not sure if the materials of Jos A Bank are so bad, that its not worth it.

This site is so full of shite sometimes. A bunch of college kids and semi-professionals just busting their wallet for Brooks Brothers suits. MFer please. I spend quite a bit on clothes and even I say you're full of shite. Nothing wrong with a Jos suit if you get it tailored correctly and at the right price. Now get the frick out.

I fell for their buy 1, get 2 free deal one time. Paid about $150 per suit to get them fitted the best they could. I took them back to the tailor 3 times. They still don't fit right. I just went to J Crew and spent $300 on one of their suits, no tailoring, and it fits perfectly how I wanted. And the material feels better. Just FWIW

exactly. i had to pay the lady up in the mall "Hacky" is the name of the store. She did a pretty good job, but had to take the sleeves off the coat. That is pretty invasive. It looks good but not great and still isn't as form fitting as I wanted. I just refuse to buy another one from their after how terrible their service was compounded with issues with the suit. My brother bought one that was $900 and had more issues than mine that was $300.

From Jos A Bank? I thought 900$ would pretty much buy the entire store on certain sale days of the year
