re: sitting in terminal waiting for flight and other passenger breaks out prayer rug

hey have to pray 5 times every day at a certain time.
meh, depends.

In Saudi- yea, things shut down and they get beat if they don't rush to prayer

other places- as long as they pray 5xs, especially evening prayer, certain times don't matter

He is probably praying now because he won't be able to on the flight.

You should tell us your flight number. Just in case.

If you see someone bow their head and pray right before they get on the flight, or in their seat but they are white does it make you nervous?

I would think if this guy was actually a radical Islamic Fundamentalist getting ready to do some crazy shite the last thing he would do would be call attention to himself by breaking out the prayer rug.

Don't give the (normal) Muslim pulling out his prayer rug the stink eye - save that for the nervous, twitchy young Muslim guy trying desperately (and failing miserably) to look "western" and Americanized.

Since I am not aware of anyone matching that description blowing up a commercial flight (or flying one into a building), I'd have to say probably not.

I'm sure it's nothing. You shouldn't be worried.

Of course, if I'm wrong, you're going to die, and so will 3000 other Americans, and our nation will lose some of our most treasured national landmarks. But don't sweat it, I'm usually right about 63% of the time.

Which way do they face if they're 180 degrees around the world from Mecca? And how do they know?

In Heathrow airport in london, there is a shower room designed specifically for cleansing right in the middle of the terminal area.

And yet I didn't see any ten commandments sign anywhere?

Muslims observe the formal prayers at the following times:

Fajr (pre-dawn): This prayer starts off the day with the remembrance of God; it is performed before sunrise.

Dhuhr (noon): After the day's work has begun, one breaks shortly after noon to again remember God and seek His guidance.

'Asr (afternoon): In the late afternoon, people are usually busy wrapping up the day's work, getting kids home from school, etc. It is an important time to take a few minutes to remember God and the greater meaning of our lives.

Maghrib (sunset): Just after the sun goes down, Muslims remember God again as the day begins to come to a close.

'Isha (evening): Before retiring for the night, Muslims again take time to remember God's presence, guidance, mercy, and forgiveness.

That's a lot of work to go to hell for.
