Cracking your back...

Has anyone cracked their back and ended up doing more damage? My friend cracked his back yesterday and now he says it seriously hurts this morning. I've never had an issue. Maybe he pinched a nerve? Anyone know or experienced the same thing?

Maybe you should stop going to chiropractors that set up shop in alleyways.

meh, just go to a chiropractor. cracking my back is the best, especially when you're sitting in a desk and push so it cracks a bunch right under your shoulder blades. the best.

Odd...the only thing that happens when you crack you back is a gas release..could be the method of the cracking though

One early morning as I dropped the kids off at the pool. I gave a very cat like stretch as I sat waiting for all to unload. Back cracks and sends a sharp pain from spine, wraps around to the front of the rib cage. Hurt for days, still scared to stretch too much, yes I am a big wet vagina.

I had 2 slipped discs in my back in college. Cracked my back all the time; do it now more out of necessity.

I think the slipped discs had more to do with the $45 bed I bought Here Today Gone Tomorrow on Burbank than it did the back cracking. But I'm no doctor, I just know that I couldn't sit/lay/stand/walk/crawl/sleep/anything for months because of it. 6 years later and I don't remember what it is like to be comfortable. I can't sit still for more than 10 minutes.

I've cracked my back so much that if I dont crack my back it gets very stiff (Ha!) and decides to ache with pain. So, when I do crack my back, I can feel the blood flow when I do. I dont always do the "Over the counter bend". I sometimes lay on my side and with my knuckles, feel for one to be out of place and I slide or crack it back into place. Which feels amazing. The neck is the same method; as well as my fingers, wrists, ankle, toes, knees, and hips. I do not have any issues with my joints either.

MY PT said that cracking your back might give you an endorphin rush but it does nothing to help you over the long term.

However, she said if you can crack your back after an injury, its a sign its healing.

I have a bulging disc, and was seeing her 2x per week.
