This is like a business striking against it's own customers. Only in America!

What's funny is the Michigan unions keep touting how much they've done for workers and then, I go look at unemployment rates and see where Michigan rates and go hmmmm. Oh, and of the top 15 states for high unemployment, 9 are among the top 15 for highest rate of union membership. Coincidence?

Heck no... I have no sympathy for people who have lost their sense of common sense relative to a business' need to profit versus providing employees with maximum pay, benefits, extra days off extra... It's odd, the American people in general are some of the hardest working people in the world and also some of the greediest and most lazy as well.

I've just got to say this -- what we shouldn't be doing is trying to take away your rights to bargain for better wages," Obama said, to raucous applause. "These so-called 'right-to-work' laws, they don't have anything to do with economics. [quote]They have everything to do with politics. "What they're really talking about is they're giving you the right to work for less money," he said. Read more: LINK ] And why don't businesses have the freedom to do just that Mr. President? Your ideology sucks and is bad for America, but hey you won, congrats, thanks for running America into the ground, you get to be known as the first black president that was the worst president of all time!

These leftist frickers are complete economic morons. 1)How much you make is ONLY relevant if I also know how much it takes to live where you are. Generally speaking, these fricking idiots drive the cost of living up wherever the unions have strongholds. 2)High wages are great unless the result of them is higher unemployment. THEN, they look a whole lot like a case of "I got mine" greed which describes unions PERFECTLY. Unions don't care if the drive wages up so much that fewer people can be hired as long as they're not in the group of non-hired. Union = selfish bastards who only care about themselves and the now and couldn't give two shits about consequences unless the consequences finally hit them. Then, they accept no blame whatsoever for those consequences.

You already get a vote whether to be union or non-union.

Not really. They are just voting in their best interest. You rarely see people from a congressional district that houses a military base call for defense cuts. Just as seniors rarely call for cuts in social security of medicare. Either way: the de-unionization of the country is a good thing. I think most moderates/independents see that the sun is and should be setting on union power.

In other words, there is no right to work in this state. If an industry or business is unionized, employees have no choice but to join the union. Even if they don’t want to. Thousands of people are stuck in unions they didn’t vote for and don’t really care to be part of. The unions rake in millions in forced union dues, which they use to fund political campaigns among other things. Here in Michigan if an industry is unionized, everyone must join the union and pay dues directly out of their paycheck.

A vote that occurred before I ever entered the job market should not require me to join the same club or stay unemployed. I guess that's just the freedom lover in me. But I know, you lefties are totalitarians at heart. You can't help yourselves.

You'll get another vote in three years when the contract bar runs out.

McFly, how did that business get "unionized" in the first place? The membership voted for it. Or, there was a card check plus employer recognition (blame your employer for not demanding a vote, in that case). Construction industry is a bit different and there may not have been a vote, but you can get a vote at any time.

How nice and totalitarian of you. Once you vote, you excluded all who disagree with you from your job site unless they pay you your extortion money. Unions are shitty organizations for shittier people.
