I don't understand. I thought we were equal? Do we not have laws protecting all people from violence against their person or property? Am I just not equal enough? (As a white male)

As a white man living in a patriarchal society, you have privileges that WOMYN don't. This law helps make things balanced.

Also, the way you spelled women comes off as slightly condescending.
So to keep in the spirit of things: Did you bother to look at what I typed? The Violence Against Women Act isn't an "equal pay for women act" and it doesn't somehow address the dire condition of those women all over the evil US being beaten as sport by their confederate flag flying bigotted white supremacist boyfriends and husbands. (/s) It one-ups laws already on the books to protect people who are the target of violence, this is where it gets tricky so keep up, based solely on their exclusion from the elite "conservative religious straight white male" protected class.

VAWA refers specifically to physical violence. The vast majority of domestic assault/battery, sexual assaults, violence and stalking cases are initiated by men against women. Given the intimidation tactics used in many domestic violence cases, especially among poor women with no financial resources or legal means to fight back, VAWA is a good thing.
I'll be the first to admit that white males get the raw end of the deal when it comes to protected classes, affirmitive action, freedom of speech, etc, but VAWA doesn't fall into those infringements.

 I just gave a generic feminist response to any problem that involves women. I wasn't trying to make a serious or logical response.

40% of the victims of domestic violence are men and VAWA provides basically nothing for them. They get the raw end of the deal in this one too.

If you look at the legislation, there is money tied up into the act as well. For example it establishes bureaucracy in the Department of Justice and provides funding to NGOs/Women Groups.

Statistically speaking, men earn more money than women, are stronger than women and harder to rape than women. I'm sure in trailer parks across America women hit back too, but men in general have more options available to them when being domestically abused. I agree- it sucks when the cops roll up to a house with a bloody man and a bloody woman, the man will be judged more harshly. But I'm not talking about mainstream physical violence. I'm talking about the physical, emotional and sexual intimidation that comes daily in houses across the country where the woman is afraid to report violence because she has no money or fears for her life.

You may be right.
But also, the vast majority of emotional and verbal abuse is committed by women. Why aren't there laws to protect against that?

What has brought us to this point? Where we are evil if we don't accept the premise that women (or any other protected class) need special treatment from, yet are exactly the same as everyone else? Everyone else being conservative male taxpayers.
How are people who talk from different sides of their mouths still being paid by us?
