Should we just jump off the cliff and start over?

It's going to happen anyway we are just prolonging the inevitable. All super powers fall. We are the fastest to power in the history of the world so wouldn't it be true that we won't last long? Besides pride what's the point? Let somebody else be the world police and let's worry about ourselves. The time has come to fix our home land and leave everybody else to their own devices. Nobody will ever physically take us over especially if we focus on our chunk of soil and not other lands. Forget the UN, League of Nations etc just back out of all of it. Stop giving so much foreign aid. I'm not calling for isolationism just ease off the hammer. We catch a lot of hell bc we always have our finger in somebody else's pie. Why is it any of our business?

Could you imagine if the stimulus money was given to the citizens of this country and not corporations? Sure as hell would've helped a lot of people.

Look at any list of the happiest countries and we aren't even close.

I'm sure ill get crucified for this post. Hammer away.

Maybe you missed the memo. No one is allowed to jump. You must be in an Obama toy car to go over the cliff and there is no starting over.

See it's not like a game where you press reset and boom everyone is happy we fix everything. If we go off the fiscal cliff things will get 20x worse, it'd be bad

You have to agree we are headed for the shite can and there's no stopping it. Too much debt. They're doing this on purpose and I mean they as in both parties. Nobody wants to fix the real problem which is spending. What's the point, for example, of the dept of education, when we are below some 3rd world countries? That's pitiful. It's hard to admit defeat but I'm about ready to do so. I love America but we will fall. The spirit still lives within me and a lot of others and we can rise from the ashes. Russia and Germany did

I agree 100%. No foreign aid, no UN money, no International treaties with money, cut WW2 bases all over the world in Japan,Phillipines,Germany. No bases in Iraq and Afganistan, get out. Not one dime to Muslim,anti-American Egypt groups. My dad was stationed in the Air Force all over the WW2 bases and they are no longer needed. Germany and Japan are Capitalist friendly countries and forget the Muslims, they hate us,get out, be smart. If you cut the WW2 bases and Senator Tom Coburns $600 billion in duplication and waste, we could almost balance the budget without cutting S.S. or Teachers paychecks or any of the lies the Dem's put out. I don't care if Muslims fight each other. Take care of our own spending and deficits

Oh you are correct. It will be painful for a while but in the end, we might be better off for it.

I talked to my dad about this and he said "son, my life hasn't changed no matter who was in office. From the 50's until now, it's been the same crap when it comes to politics. Do yourself a favor and don't stress over it. The sun will come up tomorrow."

Yep. The Romans, ottomans, Spartans, Mongolians etc were all about perseverance. Nothing lasts forever.

Perservering in spite of massive debt and out of control deficits is one thing, ignoring the continued road to ruins apparently is what we need to do huh?

persevering
Depends on your definition of the situation.

Does it not show stronger character and perseverance if they go over the cliff to tackle the problem head on? Yes there will be pain, but through that pain we will persevere.

The other approach that you recommend can be viewed as cowardly as well. What's more cowardly than continually avoiding the pain that true change would bring.

Before claiming the moral high ground, remember, it's all about perspective.

So what happens when America collapses? Do barbarians (Mexicans) sack our cities and burn our libraries? Does China come in and divide us into 4-5 different regions?

Really how do we stop it. Seriously. Does anyone have a plan? Cut back spending. Won't happen. Lower taxes. Forget it. I mean I'm listening and all for the ideas but how do you put it into action? I mean really change things and make it happen. Anyone?

:crickets:

We can all bitch and complain all we want and nothing will change. Powers greater than ourselves are at work here. They have the plan set and in motion. Meanwhile we are worried about democrat/republican/independent and who won the football game this week.

Who knows? If/when it happens, it'll be more on par with the USSR's fall.

It won't happen. The blacks/whites/rednecks/Yankees will all ban together. We have too many guns in too many hands for anyone to just roll in here and take all our cities. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count my guns. Not to mention ammo.

The problem is there are no Pols willing to make tough choices for what is without a doubt a very serious problem, always take the path of least resistance. Hell we have idiots convinced that all we need to do is frick 2% of taxpayers, not 2% of the population just 2% of taxpayers. frick you can't even bring up slowing (not cutting) the rate of growth without frickheads like Nancy Pelosi cracking a botox injection site.
