Saw some boards and thought I would give recent numbers per USA TODAY on Nov. 29. In round numbers:
FOX: 1.2m viewers. Up 8%
MSNBC: 500k viewers. Up 14%
CNN: 400k viewers. Down 16%

Fox's use of Fear and Demonizing of President Obama keeps a loyal audience listening to Hannitty, Rove, etc. I mainly watch CNN to receive a more balanced reporting of U.S. and World news events. Fox and MSNBC are polar opposites of extreme bias so called reporting of the news. With that said I get most of my news via online websites using newslink. So if I hear anything fron TV I go to the Internet to research it. Getting the facts from the ground always expose the bad political slanted reporting Fox and MSNBC broadcasts.

right.... like on September 12th when the Middle East was on fire and our ambassador was being murdered and CNN led their prime time coverage with 12 minutes of responses to Mitt Romney's comments ...... real balanced stuff there

Not surprising. Political junkies want to hear cheerleading for their own side. Fox is more partisan than CNN and MSNBC should be considered blatant corporate funding for the DNC (which is somehow OK even though libs don't like the rich buying elections.)

Pretty much this. CNN is much more down the middle than the other two. I would also argue that Fox is every bit as biased as MSNBC. It's just that Fox plays to a higher percentage of posters on this board.

Was not even close to the case from Bernie Shaw's departure until a year or so ago. Recently CNN began to track more toward the center. Comparing FNC and MSNBC lineups, there is no way humanly possible to make the case that FNC is as biased as MSNBC. Sorry, just no way. Clarence Darrow wouldn't even be able to win that argument.

My guess is most liberals are getting their news from the main networks, CBS, ABC, and NBC or from the internet. I watch very little TV news. An older audience tends to be more conservative and in the habit of watching TV news which probably in part explains Fox's higher ratings.

When it comes to unbiased U.S. political reporting, Al Jazeera is the best.
AJ, of course, is biased towards Islaamist causes when it reports on international news, but when it's reporting on strictly U.S. politics, it's pretty much right down the middle.

Late afternoon and into the evening is when both tend to show more of their stripes. As of late, the primetime lineup on MSNBC has become more consistently left leaning. But that doesn't mean FOX is right down the middle.

I don't know of a FNC show that I'd consider left leaning. Several are right leaning. A couple are way out there. So no, FNC is not right down the middle. Nor is CNN.

Well - this could also be a reflection on CNN's content. We have CNN on in the office in our Lobby and probably 75% of the stories they have on wouldn't be considered news 20 years ago. Within the past year we had CNN with their pants down and not fact checking regarding:
- George Zimmerman the "white" Mexican
- a video causing a riot in Benghazi
We also had a huge segment on "what would your life be like in a day without a Mexican"
And now an upcoming special on "what it means to be black"
People want news and whatever flavor you are looking for Fox and MSNBC are better places to get it than CNN. They need to wake up and realize we are in a post racial world and start reporting again and stop editorializing everything.

By daytime I was really referring to earlier programming. I said things changed in late afternoon. Sharpton and Matthews are not moderates. Don't really know enough a the other three you named. However, if you want to split hairs, I was actually being generous regarding a couple of the Fox daytime programs.

I avoid cable news for the most part., but out of those three i'd watch CNN (and i really thought they did a good job with the election).
That's pathetic regarding the fox/msnbc ratings, it really is.

FWIW, I'm not a fan of Rove, and I think Hannity is a far-right loon. Yet, I am an avid Fox News watcher. I acknowledge that it's not as "fair and balanced" as it claims, but I still prefer it to the other two networks mentioned in this thread.
