The perfect LSU season for the typical Rant poster is for the team to go undefeated, win the national championship and the head coach gets fired.
Stealing this for my sig as well!

I think that he didn't have faith in the kicker to make that long kick. If that is the case then a pooch punt would have been a better call.
except for in that same fricking game he let a kicker with very little range attempt a longer fg than the fake was and he missed giving bama great field position and they made us pay with a td. the fake fg/ then fg from over 50 were two terrible calls

Exactly. It's like some of these posters have never worked in the real world. If I sign a contract and have five years left on it, guess what, I'm stuck with that contract...
Then obviously your line of work doesn't allow you to do so.

Also, yes, I think that plenty of other coaches could do what Les Miles is doing with the amount of talent he has. Actually, I think plenty of coaches could do better.
Then why aren't they doing it or haven't they done it here especially or elsewhere! How many coaches have a better win lose record than Les Miles as our head coach?

Les Miles is the man! Other than Les has LSU ever had a football coach as successful as he who was not looking forward to his next gig?

Wow..Holy fricking shite. Kinda hard to finish above expectiations when you are picked pre-season number 1 or 2 isn't it? Well, if Leslie himself had come out and set that expectation publicly, then it would be a "disappointing season". But he did NOT set that expectation. A bunch of voters and pollsters did. And the fans bought it. I think 10-2 was one hell of a season considering we were breaking in a new QB and had OL problems. So if you want to call LSU overrated based on ridiculous expectations from those on the outside, then go ahead.
One of the most logical posts ever posted on TD.com

Out of 8 years half is improved ranking. 2 we were stuck with Lee/JJ as freshmen/sophomores, 2 were still top 10 finishes. Unfortunate that what is actually true doesn't matter.
the point should be that under clm we are ranked at the top just about every year....meaning we have a great program led by a great coach.....people Are just too stupid to realize how good we have it and how good of a coach we have.

Yes, but thats only what the "pumpers" believe. He threatened to leave right? In their minds that is a totally irrational thought and it could never have gone that way. We are all naive for thinking this way.
I doubt he threatened to leave, but no one is stupid enough to think he didn't play the game.

If I sign a contract and have five years left on it, guess what, I'm stuck with that contract... UNLESS I have leverage to renegotiate the terms due to NEW developments. If we are to believe the AD and Les, nothing happened. Well I'm calling bull shite on that.
Do you really think anyone expects to go 5 years or more without a raise, especially after an undefeated regular season, an SEC championship and getting to the BCS CG? When these types of long-term contracts are negotiated, no one expects the contract will remain unchanged over the course of time. Contracts like this are frequently renegotiated. It is normal and expected. To act like it is offensive or wrong shows you simply don't know much about these kinds of deals. The simple truth of the matter is that Les was getting a raise this year and an extension, and it had nothing to do with Arkansas. The timing of the announcement was affected, nothing else. There was nothing extraordinary about the size of the raise or an additional two years on the extension. The same folks complaining now would have complained if the exact same the raise and extension were to have been announced in January, even if there had been no Arkansas interest. It is time for the anti-Miles faction to stop living in some fantasy land and accept the fact that LSU is in the most succesful period in it history and enjoy it. I don't have a problem with criticism of Miles when he makes a mistake, and he has had made some, but then I have to step back and look at the big picture, and it actually looks pretty good. The fact is Les has the best record of any coach who coached for more than 2 years at LSU. He is the third longest serving coach in LSU history. He isn't perfect, but, he is still in the top 5 or so of coaches in SEC history. Sorry for you folks for whom that isn't good enough. I doubt there is a coach alive who could meet your expectations. Bear is dead and Saban isn't coming back.

The way my company handles performance reviews and salary increases, he wouldn't be making it into the top tier of pay for taking all the resources he has and steering his team to the frickin chickin bowl.
