All those are delta counties with the majority of the population overwhelmingly AA. Not being racist, just the facts. Couldn't bring up your link but wonder what counties have the lowest. Btw, what is the second number beside each county? TIA

Thanks. Proof of the demise of the minority family and an overall demise of morality in general. Welcome to the state I now call home.

LINK This a link to the census data. You can look at each county for the info you asked about. It's too much for me to summarize.

prplhze2000 Are you in Mississippi or is this just a fascination? No flame, curious. Several of the counties listed have become crime-ridden shitholes.

Probably 1/4 of these girls want to get on 16 and Pregnant. Kid you not. My friend teaches 8th grade in Louisiana and caught one of her students trying to figure out how to apply for the show so she could get pregnant, get $5000 and let her mom raise the kid.

We've known since the New Deal that a traditional father figure in African American households was not desired by the federal government. Nothing new to see here...

Seems like many don't care for government statistics unless it proves something they feel is 'negative' about minorities. I would bet that many of those relationships are couples cohabiting & I know of many couples like that. Just because the mother isn't married to the father doesn't mean there is no relationship . Just because 'shotgun' weddings have declined & it's startling to self righteous pricks means little. With divorce rates so high even if a woman is legally married when she gave birth doesn't mean the Father will be in the home any substantial time. In other words your stats as all stats can be misleading.

So you are saying that the family structure and life in general for those living in this area is acceptable? You seem like the one who didn't want to see certain stats.

IT is largely in part to the AA, but being from the Delta myself even the wealthy white population has a high rate of unwed births. I have a lot of friends who have had kids before age 22. Mostly due to there is nothing better to do in the Delta except get really drunk and have sex. Greenwood used to have the 2nd highest amount of alcohol consumed per capita in the nation

Those in bold are either Delta counties are partially Delta counties like Holmes and Tallahatchie. For those not familiar with the demographics, these counties also have some of the highest African American populations in the United States. If you do a search of sexually transmitted disease carriers by county, most of these will also pop up as some of the highest in the nation. Also, if you check to see the poorest counties in America, they will pop up too. All that being said, I love the Mississippi Delta for some odd reason.

None of that devalues any of the statistics posted.
