John Gault[sic] is retiring Director of the Heritage Foundation. It is a very well respected position and a once in a lifetime opening for a Patriotic Conservative to take. When I was a Senator, Ronald Reagan got all of his ideas,speaking points, policies, and issues from the Heritage Foundation. They were the brains behind Reagan. There were no Websites then, it was was all typed up Position Papers and mailings. I got a lot in the mail from them, all good for the country ideas. They ditested Special Interest Groups and selfish motivations. His name is spelled diferently, it's not Gault, but Gauell or something like that. Jim Demint is a great choice to replace him. I really thought one of the Fox men was going to get it. Dr. Charles Krauthammer, Monica Crowley, Carl Rove, and Neil Cavuto were candidates, according to GOP e-mails I've received. The S.C. Gov. Nicki Haley will appoint a temporary replacement for January,2013, that will have to run for a full term in 2014. Someone might take it just for a year ,but, I dought it.

I love this argument. It infers that because Bush was not a fiscal conservative that it excuses spending under Obama. Meanwhile Obama's rate of spending far outstrips Bush's. Believe me, in terms of Bush spending it was bad but the real spending didn't happen until the Dems controlled congress in 2006.
But back to your inference...does it suggest that Dems believe Bush didn't spend enough? Or the Dems simply support Obama blindly? I 100% confident it's the latter. Obama could barbaque live babies and eat them for lunch and he still could do no wrong according to the Dems.

That was my first reaction as well. It's DC, after all and people don't just resign from Congress for no reason. Apparently being head dog at Heritage is enough to lure DeMint away from the bullshitetery of having to deal with Reid's fiscal obstructionism.
Personally, a cashier's job at McD's would have been enough to lure me out of that situation, but then I have a low tolerance for self-serving assclowns who like to economically rape the country solely for the sake of party politics.

DeMint has integrity. And given the present state of leadership in the Senate, the House of Representatives, and the White House, he also has eyes that see what looks like a totally futile Conservative effort from within the emerging socio-fascist System.

No I was awake. Reagan never had a GOP
Congress, and had a GOP Senate for only 2 years.
He was able to push through tax cuts in the first 2 years because of his landslide victory. After that it was all downhill.
It's kind of hard to cut spending when you don't control the House.
As far as the 2 Bushes-yep they spent too much. Bush I reneged on his no new taxes pledge because he was stupid enough to believe the Dems when they promised spending cuts in exchange for tax increases.
Bush II thought he could buy votes with his domestic spending.

Being director of Heritage doesn't remove you from DC it only moves you about .75 miles from the capitol, and it doesn't put you in a strong position to get a nomination.
It is a nice paying low stress job, and he probably thinks he can influence the debate.

The inferenence is that Repubs have not been even close to anything resembling fiscal responsibility since Eisenhower. So, to blame the death of fiscal responsibility on Obama or DeMint's resignation is ridiculous. DeMint wasn't fiscally conservative, and the movement didn't die because of Obama.
Republican's need to quit lying about themselves and pretending to be something they're not. Period.

Could be, but Feulmer pulled in just over a million and he co-founded the place and ran it pretty much since its inception, I doubt DeMint gets that much but it will be a big raise over Senate pay. I think it has a lot to do with dollars.
