| Who do you like in the draft? (Posted on 12/5/12 at 10:46 pm)
Well studying for finals is miserable so I've been messing around the past few days reading scouting reports and mock drafts and watching videos and stuff on prospects for the next draft. My guess is we end up in the middle of the lottery, somewhere in the 6-10 range. Hopefully we can pick up something good there, but this draft seems to really decline quickly after the first few picks. I'm thinking the top need for this team is a good offensive wing player with good range, and then probably C right behind that as the second biggest need. Probably wouldn't hurt to look around for a solid back up PG either, although doesn't look like this draft has many of those. Obviously I would love Muhammad but I doubt he falls to us. Also I'm not sure he's a SF, definitely more of a SG, and not sure we go that route for another year in a row. I guess if we go SF then McAdoo at UNC, Poythress at UK, Mitchell at North Texas, and Porter at Georgetown are the best prospects I could find after doing a little research. Not too big on any of them really, (this really isn't a great draft class) but Poythress and McAdoo both look like serious athletes if we can get one of them in the middle of the lottery. Anyway, my list of who would should maybe look at: 1) Muhammad 2) McAdoo 3) Poythress 4) Mitchell 5) Isiah Austin, Alex Len, or Rudy Gobert

Would love Cody Zeller but that seems unrealistic at this point Other than him i like Mitchell from North Texas, Glenn Robinson from Michigan, and Poythress from UK

I've been telling anybody that I can get to listen that CJ McCollum is a Damian Lillard clone. Senior, small school guy, but just has "it." Averaging 26 ppg and shooting 56% from 3. Has a mature demeanor and is nba ready. I encourage everyone to google him and jump on the bandwagon now. With that said, id trade all of our draft picks and anybody on our roster not named Anthony Davis for the chance to draft Andrew Wiggins in 2014. Probably Jabari Parker as well.

Not really I guess, but I'd rather have my SF taller than 6'5".

He is born to live in Nerlens.

Last post was like 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't call that recent.

True. We'll see what he measures. If he is really 6'5" that may limit him in guarding certain SFs. He does already have a nba body though, so that helps

A combo of AD and Nerlens? There would be lots of leftovers for Xavier to partake in.

CJ will be a instant impact type player. I'd be really excited about him but doesn't that selection possibly contradict the Rivers selection as our "attacking point guard?" But then again after this year, can you really have too many good guards? Tons of decent looking centers if Lopez isn't the long term center piece which I doubt he is. Still having a nice season. Who knows. I don't get too excited about all of the small forwards projected to go in the lottery so hopefully that isn't the direction we go.

Maybe, but I don't think too many attackers is bad. Particularly when one those guys is a terrible attacker at the moment. Plus CJ is such a good shooter that he won't have to rely on attacking the rim to score.

I'm with you on this. He would be top on my board. Then grab a wing in free agency. Maybe trade something to get back into first round and get another center/project.

What i'm tired of are guys with no actual basketball skills, but great measurements and length. Aminu... When a prospects best attribute is his length or wingspan, I want nothing to do with him. Those are not basketball skills. They help is you're actually a good player. I want to know what a guy's good at. Thats why I dont want anything to do with guys like Tony Mitchell, Mcadoo, Austin, and to a lesser extent Poythress. Waiting for those guys to suddenly develop NBA skillsets is gonna get Monty fired.
