The current Hornets brand isn't exactly a barn-burner nation wide. It's at least a lateral move and given that it's brand new, likely a move up at least in the first couple of seasons.

Definitely. I have seen that damn thing since I was 2 years old, but the thought never occurred to me until I saw that picture. There's no way in hell that would fly (pun intended) in the internet age.

Well, the brown pelican is the state bird, but we do have both varieties in the state, and the bird in the state flag is a white bird. White is usually an easier color than brown to use in a logo.

White pelicans only winter here, though. That said, our brown pelicans were reintroduced from Florida. They stay year-round, though.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Seymour was a white Pelican because if fit the the color scheme of the fair.

I think, eventually, Brass will be the new name. People have caught on to it nationally and seem to like it a whole lot better than Pelicans. I like Pelicans, FWIW, but Brass is just as good locally and would work nationally. Benson needs to read the tea leaves and come out and say "Pelicans" was just a rumor and they haven't made up their mind. Then name them Brass
