It will age well for years. Andrew brewed it with the intent on being able to try multiple years worth down the line.
Thanks. I may just stash them both and break one out next year and one the year after.

Not 100% positive but ive been told by some stores that you can only get canebreak in bottles around lafayette.
This. The demand in lafayette is so high, that they can't keep up production for bottles in other markets. So Lafayette gets first crack. Also, there is a chance that another shipment of Grand Reserve will be coming out today. Here in BR, i believe Cuban Liquor may be getting some more, from what they told me last sunday.

Taste: nice balance of malt and hops. More bitter than malty.
I was told from a beer drinker whose palate I trust that the opposite was true. A little too sweet. Anyone?

Seemed like an English Barleywine to me.

I thought it was a little on the malty side for a barleywine... certainly nothing like Bigfoot.

I found it sweet, almost a harsh sweet. I'm sure that will mellow out though.

English varieties are quite different from the American efforts, what sets them apart is usually the American versions are insanely hopped to make for a more bitter and hop flavored brew, typically using American high alpha oil hops. English version tend to be more rounded and balanced between malt and hops, with a slightly lower alcohol content, though this is not always the case.

Agreed. The hops are certainly there, but it's not blurring the line between barleywine and double IPA, like Sierra Nevada Bigfoot or Stone Old Guardian.

Boozy, malty, rich, a little hops as well. Lots of caramel to it, and some dark fruits as well.
