A school should be a safe place for a child. The principal is in charge of keeping it safe.

I could very well be, but at least I woouldn't allow myself to get bullied. Look, there are bullies. There will continue to be bullies no matter who you sue or who you bitch to. Sue the kids parents and everyone at school finds out about it. Go on the news, everyone at school finds out about it. You think the kids are going to stop bullying because their parents tell them to. It is more of a groupthink situation in high school. Kids just go with whatever their friends are doing. Send him to another school, same problems are gonna occur. Any way you take it, he is going to keep getting bullied. Hell, bullies don't stop existing just because you get older. You can't just teach the kid that mommy and daddy will always be there to sue someone who is being mean to the him. He will sooner or later have to stand up for himself to stop it. Teach him that and he will become a better person. frick man, how hard is that to understand?

At the public schools in my area, hazing is grounds for immediate expulsion. Zero tolerance policy.

Definately go to the school board if the principal isn't responding to your friends requests. Had an issue with my son years ago where the school was basically blowing me off, all I wanted was a meeting with the principal, guidance counselor, his teacher, and the school behaviorist (my son was given in school suspension for a week without a word to his parents, when I called them on it, they started making bs excuses as to why I wasn't called and started lying through their teeth). That changed quickly when I called a family friend on the board. The next day they called and basically asked when I wanted to swing by and they would have everyone I requested present, just give them a time. It was an epic meeting, they started out trying to lead the meeting and I told them no, I was the one that called it and we will be following MY agenda-not theirs. I then proceeded to get everyone involved to admit that they were lying their asses off after I pointed out how none of their stories matched up. Principal was 'reassigned' shortly afterwards and my son never had any other issues while at that school.

I have broken my hands probably 50 times. It doesn't hurt and gets better in a week. Quit whining about it. If you've broken your hands fifty times you are one brittle sob. That's just the result of being clumsy as hell and a little Nancy.

There are a lot of bones that can be broken in each hand. Knuckles all shifted, fingers going crooked, etc. My right hand looks like a club now FYI, I drink a gallon of milk each week. Bones can only take so much before they break. Only other bones that I have broken are a chip taken out of both elbows and my nose so many times I can't count, ribs, and a few in my wrist and on my feet

Hell, my last couple of years in high school, even if you were just play fighting you could be expelled. If someone suckerpunched someone, they would be gone.

The problem with that? The kid getting bullied is now getting sued for busting the bully's kneecap. Ridiculous.

Normally I would just say "sounds like bullying" But this
quote:
sucker punched In the side of the head, fell down and landed on his hand and possibly broke it.
Is assault and if the school doesn't do anything about it, I would fricking lawyer up.

You can take comfort in knowing the bully is pretty much at the peak of his life and its all downhill from here.

School doesn't want to deal with it.
I've witnessed that situation..but they where in high school. Two girls dated the same guy and the new girlfriend was being picked on by the ex...and was confronted several times. She told her mom, and her mom talked to the principal on at least 3 different occasions about the same problem...After school one day the ex confronted her again, they started fighting and the ex stabbed her and the new girlfriend died en route to the hospital. That parent needs to go to the board and have the principal involved if its a real issue. Old news story LINK

The one who punched him was arrested Pictures are being taken of his face and hand My friend is going to talk to the boys parents and demand they pay for the medical bills. If they decline, a lawyer will get involved.

Yep. I'd hit the kid with a restraining order, too, and see about suing the parents. Whether they have any assets or not, and I'm guessing they probably don't, it will get their attention. Escalating with tit for tat violence, while satisfying, would be counterproductive in a number of ways..
