yeah sure, I am old enough to deal with this. When I was younger, it used to put me in a bad mood. Now I try my best to enjoy the time, but I still don't like christmas.
The only thing that will really annoy this year is when the inlaws suggest we go to church. They know I am an atheist and won't go to church. But they will still ask, and it will put the wife in complete knots.

We did, and even though I was raised cafeteria catholic and am now a pretty outspoken atheist (please don't ban me again for using the "A" word on this board!!!), other than slapping a manger under the tree, it was never about Jesus' Birthday. It was family gatherings, and chritstmas trees and lights, and jingle bells, and snowmen and Santa, etc.
I love this time of year.

I dislike Christmas because of the commercialism. It's really just about shopping, isn't it?
That and the fact that its original meaning has been hijacked by the likes of Santa Claus and reindeer and snowmen and so on.

No. It really isn't.
I don't live in LA. The cheapest I have been able to get to FL in the last few years is $450, and I go 2x per year to visit the family.
xmas tickets were close to $600 in oct.

I visit my family regularly. I just don't like doing it at xmas b.c of the cost. Plus, I can't go to one place and see all my family. We are spread out all over the country.
I will go see them in Jan or Feb, and save myself like $1000....maybe more.
Plus, I can spend more time there. At xmas, I have to take vacation days during Jan/Feb, I can work remotely.

Christmas stopped being about Christ long ago.
I wish it was more like Thanksgiving. Get together, have a meal, enjoy some time off. The whole gift thing makes it less enjoyable from my perspective.
One of these years I'm going on vacation for Christmas.
