You are taking risks in rejecting UM coverage driving on the roads these days. Whether you get hit by someone uninsured or insrued with low limits... you are gambling
OK, I get this. yes, it's a gamble. I cannot help you with that gamble.

You are taking further gambles in rejecting UM if you have passengers in case they are injured as well.
I don't agree. They should have their own UM. I mean, if you want your passengers to have more coverage, fine. It's not a gamble from your perspective IMHO. You don't owe them UM coverage.

They're trying to present some sort of nightmare scenario, where you're in an accident with no fault, and your buddy riding with you decides to sue you anyway, which they think will turn your life upside down and put everything you own at risk. Don't take my point as advising against purchasing UM coverage, but the scenario they are proposing here is all but completely outlandish. Provided you have decent liability coverage, in the above scenario, chances are you won't experience a thing, outside of maybe getting service of a suit by a Sheriff.

Does that one line answer the question in the title for you? Really? Typical defense guy...grabs one partially relevant issue...holds on for a year of litigation and hourly fees...then settles.

Look, people are obviously confused about UM/medical Ins and what pays what. Med-pay is directly related to this. It pays medical bills and does so without regard to fault. UM is very different. That's what was posted. that's what was said. that's what was needed.

and the point to to discuss the merits of UM. Period. You're further obfuscating the issue.

Well, we agree. But your hypo interjected driver fault into the equation...something not an issue in the thread and thus presented a twist that created additional confusion. Yellowfin has left, probably is about to drive through an intersection and be T-boned by Calundra Washington who is uninsured, and he'll lose the double wide in a Chapter 7 by June because he wasn't properly insured...I hope you're happy...

Don't talk down to me like you're my pow pow. I directed that to Neaxla only because there are conesecutive posts of people ramming their dicks into this thread just spouting off basic knowledge stuff without reading into the thread and the specifics. You, Tbobby, Sophandros, AlxTgr, yellowfin and a few others have done a very good job explaining everything. This is now the decision I have made.

I disagree. People want to know about payment of medical bills. UM presents problems there that med-pay does not. Fault, and timing.

I've presented very non-outlandish scenarios to benefit from UM. Those scenarios are being chosen to be overlooked cause they aren't nightmarish, that's your prerogative. And now you guys want to discount nightmarish scenarios cause they are nightmarish and thus possibly is a bit less realistic yet still possible?

Nice edit, but I don't need to. OP said " If you already have very good medical insurance through another provider? Seems like lagniappe to get it through my auto insurance" If you want to just read titles, fine by me, but don't yell at other because you're a dumbass.
