| Christmas Haters Roll Call (Posted on 12/5/12 at 10:01 am)
Let's get all of you communist anti christian people out there, so we know who you are. I personally am not a fan of christmas. Some of the reasons are personal (i.e. family shit) but also I find the materialistic aspects of it really disgusting. And I hate visiting my family at xmas due to travel costs. They live in FL, and its fricking expensive to fly to FL. Plus not being a christian, the holiday is relatively meaningless to me. I don't celebrate ramadan, or passover, or dwali....why would I celebrate christmas? Anyway, who else is not a fan of this time of year? the xmas party thread inspired this

Thank you, once again!!!!!! And, I was so wrong about shark week! Warning, it somehow got delayed a week. It's on like Donkey Kong right now at the Beaverstinks residence. Good Lord! Every year you go bat-crap crazy the closer it gets to Christmas. It’s in the air. Let’s face it, women on their period always ‘ovary act’. All we can do now is loosen the turnbuckle and go rope-a-dope. And next, you’ll be boohooing for God only knows what reason. And, before that fat bastard hits the sleigh, you’ll be throwing tantrums and babbling about twaddle not even a bilingual psychiatrist and a corpus linguistic could team to comprehend. Then, you’re going to Holy roll out of bed on D-day – and oh ho how so sickeningly giddy you are now – knowing he had better have wrapped the most expensive small shiny object you’ve ever seen, or he’s dead meat like that ham your mother-in-law is going to chunk on the table at high noon. You’d think we’d wise up and just move out for the next month because this upcoming week’s bloody hell is just the start of the hemorrhaging.

I don't get why people think being a christian has anything to do with enjoying christmas. Its basically a secular holiday now. Do it your own way, you will enjoy it more. Stop putting stress on yourself, realize presents are for kids, not adults and learn to avoid the things that make it tedious. Don't travel to family, never understood why people make long distance trips. Start your own traditions. It's my favorite time of year.

Even though I am an atheist, I still enjoy this time of year. I guess it reminds me of my childhood and it was always a good time. I enjoy giving presents much more than receiving them and it's just a family tradition. It has no religious meaning to me at all (obviously). I just enjoy getting together with family, having some drinks, eating a good meal and exchanging gifts. It's kind of like Thanksgiving without the presents and Santa Clause!

Not in my family. They always want to go to church and talk about jesus and shite.

I do, but I still don't like christmas. Last year, we rented a cabin in the woods and took a psychedelic on xmas day. That actually was a lot of fun, but we could have done that on a tuesday and it wouldn't have mattered.

Good for you, i don't particularly like it. I do like all the time off, and the bowl games. Plus work is dead. But not the christmas part.

just at christmas time, and it has to do with the plane flights getting close to $1000. I don't mind visiting them the rest of the year, just no traveling at xmas.

I hope you don't mind my speculating, but I think it has something to do with the fact that its a Christian holiday. That's just me though. That would be like me celebrating Kwanza because its that time of year...you catch where I'm going with that?

Well, learn to ignore what you don't care for. You are missing out on some great times though. The holiday season of Nov, to New years is the best time of year, you just gotta kick out the things you dislike about it.

I'm personally into Festivus these days. You know, putting up the Festivus Pole, the Feats of Strength, Airing of Grievances, etc. And mustn't forget the annual Festivus gift everyone gets...a contribution in their name to The Human Fund. Money for people.

Its probably more secular than Christian these days.

If Kwanza is fun, go for it.

If I had my way every fool who goes around with the words "merry christmas" on his lips would be boiled in his own pudding and burried with a stake of holly through his heart. BAH HUMBUG!

Of course I know it is technically a Christian holiday, but it is celebrated by MANY non Christians. Many people like myself grew up celebrating Christmas and are now not Christians for various reasons. It really has become an American holiday that most people celebrate like Thanksgiving............it doesn't matter what your religious views are.

I love Christmas, even if I have no interest in the supernatural mythology. At this point, Christmas as really practiced by the majority is essentially a secular holiday with a religious background...like Halloween.

I hate it. Family time is usually awkward for one and on top of that TV ads and the flood of commercialization have pretty much ruined it for me.

This. And Black Friday/Blue Monday/Cyber Sunday/all the other marketing ploys. And Christmas music starting on November 1 And the ridiculous traffic near the mall that gets worse as the day approaches And the bitches that just get too overly giddy this time of the year.
