You're legally eligible to recoup the money that your insurer is paying for you. You Profit/Coverage/Whatever floats your boat... it is how it is.

The entire thread is in the context of promoting a good decision...having the coverage. If you have one post that dealt with an at fault, or partailly at fault host driver, fine. But what I said and what Neauxla said is absolutely correct...these guys that don't understand coverage issues can be mislead...stay on point or back out.

Bull shite. People are talking about medical insurance vs. UM. I posted about med-pay and contrasted it with UM. You didn't understand and wanted to point out how wrong I was because that's the OT way. Now, seeing how you fricked it up, you refuse to admit how wrong you were and how much of an arse you were. I will calmly accept your apology.

When you say you people, you mean those with health insurance and UM coverage?

As a lawyer, would you recommend your clients coming to you for advice to carry UM coverage with respects to their liability of driving on the road also with passengers in their vehicles whether they have health insurance or not?

Say what? UM is actually a pretty big cash cow for insurance companies, as I understand it. They certainly don't "hate" to write such coverage, or any additional coverages one chooses to purchase.

Have fun when you get sued.

I do not get involved with that, ever. Different people have different idea about "General Damages". I can't answer that. I can just tell them what pays for what, and when.

That really doesn't make much sense. Um is not going to help with their liability. med-pay could in the sense that it's fault free and gets rid of some, and many times, all of the bills. Just carry high liability limts. I've only seen two cases where a driver had to come from the hip pocket to get a case settled. Both had too low of limits and had cash available. Most cases settle for the limits no matter what. I have one right now that is going to end up in a huge excess. A guy down the hall had a massive excess earlier this year.

You took my liability term to literal in the sense of coverage on the policy. Rejecting UM coverage is a liability in and of itself, that's how I was meaning their liability of driving on the road with passengers and such.

You are taking risks in rejecting UM coverage driving on the roads these days. Whether you get hit by someone uninsured or insrued with low limits... you are gambling. You are taking further gambles in rejecting UM if you have passengers in case they are injured as well.

To be fair, some states allow the insured to purchased either stacked or nonstacked UM coverage. For example, Pennsylvania is one of those states.
