WRONG! If you are hit by another driver and you have a passenger in your car. Your passenger can collect from the liability insurer, your UM insurer, and their UM insurer. It is the only time where UM stacking is allowed.

You don't want insight, son. Every professional that has posted in this thread has attempted to explain the pittfalls prsented if one chooses to not carry the coverage. You rationalize your choice to accept those risks...good for you. I hope the risks don't materialize for you. Should they, likely you'll call another professional for bankruptcy advice. Good luck to you.

UM is not fault free. Med-pay is. If you cause an accident, you and everyone in the car gets med-pay. If you cause an accident, you cannot collect UM in any way. Your passengers cannot collect your UM, but can collect your liability. Problem is, liability can simply refuse to pay with no penalty. Med-pay must be paid quickly regardless of any fault determinations.
Gotcha. Med generally would not even scratch the surface of a lot of more serious injuries in accidents. Med Pay generally is used to fund the lawyer in their coming suit.

Read again. That was in the context of the host driver being at fault. I was contrasting med-pay with UM. Really a shame you people would rather play gotcha than help out.

I don't think I've encountered anyone w/ over 5k in med pay yet. That doesn't cover much in medical expenses.

You are stupid. A passenger in a vehicle that is stuck by an uninsured or underinsured driver will have a claim against the UM policy on the vehicle inwhich he is riding, which claim will be primary over any claim he may have against his own UM coverage. Just fricking stop shittin' up a thread with garbage.

We generally pay the provider unless we receive proof of prior payment by insured or lawyer. Oh, and the insured will try hard to get that back. Some even have entire units dedicated to subrogation. I do not miss those days.

Then the passenger needs UM...that's the point of this thread to attempt and teach these guys that this purchase is in their best interest.

yeah and a herniated disc that you will have pain from for the rest of your life. Most people would rather be healthy w/o the money but if you are going to suffer for the rest of your life, the money is nice to have
