If this is 100% true, there is so much wrong with this its not even funny. When I was in grade school 16 years ago, if you got into a fight at school, everybody went to jail. With all the emphasis put on bullying right now, I can't believe the principal would ignore this.
Since our PC, pussified modern society has made standing up for yourself wrong, you have to follow the rules. If this kid got hit at school and there was no consequence for the kid that did the hitting, I'd lawyer up and go straight to the school board. That principal deserves to lose his/her job.

Tell the kid that next time he sees the guy who blindsided him, to walk up and knock the piss out of him. No matter where or in front of whom. Give him a roll of nickels for lunch money that day.

I agree with you. This is why I have so a hard time believing this story is 100% true.
I'm not saying its not possible, but sounds so unlikely. A principle once suspended a girl for getting into a fight with a parent, even though the parent jumped on the girl.

Bully's are generally the kids that got held back and are on the lower end of the academic spectrum. One tactic I saw used on a bully when I was in school was shaming them in the classroom. Bully is called on to answer a question and if course doesn't know the answer. The kid being bullied instantly calls him out for being a dumbass, the other kids join in and the tables were turned. The bully was made the outsider.

If the school won't do anything, take the issue to the school board or LA dept of education. That stuff should be stopped by the principal.

Vader, you continually say awesome things about being a good parent. 
I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Bullies are a part of the human condition. You will deal with them for your entire life. Maybe not physically, but verbally, emotionally, etc.
We teach kids that its wrong to stand up for themselves, because life is all about Fairy Dust and Unicorn Milk. Then, they graduate, go out in the real world, and realize they are ill equipped to handle it.
Bullies thrive on the perceived power they get over the ones they bully. Bullies are not sorry, they dont care if they get in trouble. Power is addictive. The only way you respond to a bully is by removing that perception of power. Sending the bully to the principals office for a stern talking to does nothing to remove that perception of power.
I bet Scot Fargas didnt frick with Ralphie or his friends anymore after Ralphie beat the piss out of him.

Thanks I really appreciate you saying that. I see my biggest responsibility in this life is to raise my children right and prepare them to be the best they can be when they grow up and go out into the world on their own. I don't care if I were to climb Mt. All it will take is the kid to cowboy up and fight back one time. Doesn't matter if he gets his arse beaten. Bullies are all alike, they only frick with those they think are too afraid to fight back. The possibility, however remote, that they may get their own arse whipped or at the very least absorb a few licks to the head is enough to keep them at bay. I have taught my children that they aren't to harass younger/weaker kids but at the same time not take shite from anyone because if you ever let someone get their bluff in on you, then you will be taking shite from that person from then on. Just go ahead and nip it in the bud.
But if there are medical costs associated with this kid's hand and there has been issues before with regard to bullying that the school refused to address, then yeah, they would be paying for it one way or the other. The principal sure sounds like a pussy.

This was younger kids like 5th grade and all the kids he was bullying started making fun of him and he was outnumbered and his power was taken away. Probably wouldn't work in high school you would still have to throw hands.
