re: LNST - Good night errbody edition

Most everyone in Kenya was super friendly, but we were in Christian parts of Kenya.

It's just that their hygiene habits are different and it took a couple of days to get used to the body odors

Only people not nice....the cops with maching guns that had random road checkpoints set up complete with spikes in the road

I get that and I meant no disrespect. I'm not so obtuse that I think no one else besides me has gone through and survived this, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. It was not my intention.

Nooooooo, I wasn't trying to say that. I'm just trying to motivate you into trying to move on.

re: LNST - Good night errbody edition

I'm not quite sure how to move on other than what I've been doing. I go to work, try to connect with old friends, meet new ones, try to find hobbies, learn new things.
I don't really know how else to proceed. I lost a LOT of weight, got my house straight, take care of business, etc. I don't know what else to do.
I'm not depressed, except momentarily, and I fully realize it will pass, however intense.

You intrigued me with your comment on "old souls". Care to elaborate?

I'm thinking about playing kickball in the spring.. or finding some sport to play. You should too. Your rut is from a divorce, my rut is from never having love and being a bit distant from my friends in baton rouge.. Gotta get out and meet people and do stuff.

Hard to play a sport working shift work.
Speaking about sports, I've invented a new one quite recently and might try to test it in the near future

I don't know how to explain it exactly... I feel like I have an old soul. Almost like I've lived a lot longer than I actually have. I'm extremely perceptive and good at reading people... I don't want to overblow it but I trip myself and my friends out sometimes with how well I can size certain people and situations sometimes. Like I already know a person when I first meet them. And I'm dead serious about dreaming music I've never heard... makes me wonder if I've got a connection to another time and if that's possible - why wouldn't it be possible to remember people, too (and then I digress into a more existential Dead Again line of thinking - great movie BTW).

You're doing the right things.

There's nothing else you can do. Time will take care of the rest. I know it's cliche' but it's true.

Very true. I work shift work also. I've given thought to volunteering at animal shelters and stuff like that too. All I know is that the status quo leaves me lonely and alone; I need to get out and meet people somehow. I don't do well in crowded places like bars, so I think a sport, volunteering, etc. would be a great outlet for expanding my social network

I used to volunteer at a no kill shelter and walked dogs. I loved it because it was during a time when I was a travel nurse and couldn't have a dog so I was able to get my dog fix at the shelter.

This is my line of thinking. I want a dog so bad.. but my complex charges a ridiculous fee for a pet, and with my long shifts (10 or 12 hours), it just wouldn't be fair to the animal. I could get my dog fix and meet new people in the process. Lots of girls volunteer at animal places too

I too feel like a walking anachronism, like I have experienced many lifetimes outside of this one. Like when I write, I sometimes feel as if I am channeling something or someone else. I dream in symphonies, yet I've never really studied music.
Perhaps it's all a product of an overactive imagination, or perhaps it's something else altogether.

I would help the dogs too. When people came looking at dogs to adopt I would try to steer them towards dogs that had been there longer. The ones I knew were total sweethearts that just needed a good home.

Have you seen Dead Again? Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branaugh back when they were still together... Andy Garcia is great in it as well.

I also need to get out more, join some groups or something. I'm just working so much right now that it seems like the only real free time I have is in the mornings after I get off night shift.
And I don't know what groups meet at 6 am to do stuff.

I've thought about getting a dog, but I'm away From home too much now to properly take care of one. Maybe in the future, for the kids
