Not that I didn't know this already, but just out of curiosity I went back a looked at last years recruiting class and each recruits star rating. Now, I wasn't completely shocked by what I saw, but it does point out just how pathetic a job they do in evaluating kids coming out of high school.
Vadal Alexander, 4 star, 5.8 rating. After starters went down, stepped in and arguably played better who he replaced.
Deion Jones LB, 3 star, 5.7 rating. Almost cracked the starting line up and saw significant playing time behind a very strong linebacker core this year.
Jallen Mill DB, 3 star, 5.6 rating. Started and played well in one of the best secondaries in the country.
These are just a few of the examples from this past year, but it never fails, Rivals is by far the worst talent evaluating body for recruiting there is. It's kind of sad.

if you want to be onpar with rivals, all you gotta do is bump up the bama commits and bump down the lsu ones, pretty simple to be that recruiting service...

Does that mean Rivals is bad or Les is good? Where did the other services have these kids ranked?

Interesting point. From what i've seen most had them higher than rivals. I would agree that Les is a much better at evaluating talent.

ESPN has LSU recruits rated lower than Rivals.

I doubt ESPN does any actual recruit evaluation of their own. They most likely call the "guru" in any given area and just ask their opinion on a kid. That or they just regurgitate whatever every other recruiting services ranks.

Rivals almost always has lsu ranked higher than most other sites

Stars have nothing to do with talent and everything to do with who is recruiting a kid.
A 2* bumps to a 3 or 4* when a big time program gets in the mix.

I'd rate Vadal Alexander as a 4 star that is pretty accurate.

Maybe their high school evaluations were correct, but we have good coaches that have developed them. Just a thought.

I am interested to see how Greg Gilmore pans out
Larry Fedora wasn't that high on him because he said the kid takes too many plays off. "We talked to local HS coaches that played against him"
"Could be good if he gets his head right"
