I've never heard of that either, Carson, but I haven't seen, read, or heard anything to discredit that either.

Well I'm assuming it takes your body at least 20 min to digest (and that's on an empty stomach) so....

Like I said, I got it from HJ. I don't remember all of the scientific stuff he said, just what I posted. I'll try and find the backing for it

Celery he was saying wait 30 minutes before ingesting protein, not that there's a 30 minute window where somehow your body absorbs it "better"

Hmm. I've been assuming there was a window where the body absorbs it better. I'm gonna look into this 30 minute thing.

i don't see why you would have to wait 30 minutes. The body isn't going to instantly digest the protein the second it hits your stomach

30 min rule is broscience. your body is repairing / recovery mode for as long as it takes to recover. i work out first thing in the morning and generally don't eat a good protein until lunch which is generally about 1pm for me. so about 3-4 hours.

quote:

Many people including myself train fasted.

and i gurantee you that you don't get as good of a workout as i do. i can't make it through a workout without a powerade.

this is tomororw

Wind sprints HIIT x 20 (once a week, tomororw is the day) as soon as i wake up in the morning.. about 7am

30 mintues LIIT warm up before gym about 8:15am

Bench Press5 x 5 90% max
Military Press 5 x 5 90% x max
Incline Barbell 5 x 5 90% x max
Iso Curles 5 x 5 90% x max
Dips 8 x 10 90% x max

swim x 45-60 minutes (straight laps)

generally 2 bananas and a powerade will get me through. then i go home and eat breakfast.

dumbasses who work on a fasted stomach are missing the forest in the trees. You want the workout to be be as hard as you can. i feel my workouts well into the afternoon.

BTW for the "i'm trying to lose weight i need to eat 1500-2000 cals a day".. i'm easily sub 10% body fat and will eat you out of house and home.. about 3500-4000 when i am not cutting weight a day. i have to get the energy /replentish the above. i have rock hard abs.

I don't really know much about the timing of ingesting protein, but from what I've read, the best time to ingest protein is within an hour and a half after a workout.

I don't see how people have the energy to work out fasted.

That's a hell of workout you have tomorrow. I don't know how you can swim for so long after that lifting

i know that, but that isn't what I said.

I said I don't understand why one would have to wait since the body wouldn't immediately digest all the protein the second it hits the stomach

what do you eat pre-workout?

you'd be a complete idiot to take it before

you take carbs before to give you energy for the workout. the workout breaks down your muscles, the protien helps build them back up. also it helps.. doesn't solve, but helps with the soreness if you get some good protein after a solid workout.

How fast exactly do you think it takes a protein shake to be digested? Take it after or before, it doesn't really fricking matter.

It takes hours to digest your food and have those nutrients transported to where they need to go.

Carson is correct.

There is a window(I've read to not wait longer than one hour after you work out with weights) that you want to consume protein. You guys need to do some research.

And the body can only consume 25 grams of protein at a time. Any extra doesn't matter(something else I've read)

i would be wary of workout advice on here. plenty of fat asses pretend to be the cover guy for workout magazine on here with their protein shake meals and supplement bull shite

True but honestly, they're pretty easy to weed out. Unless you're a novice yourself that is.

But, if you already have some knowledge and you're just looking for how other folks skin the cat, you can tell who in here is not clueless.

those are both broscience. You need to do some research. While you should consume protein post workout, the timing isn't all that important

Your small intestine will slow down contractions in order to absorb an excess of present protein

Thanks for the info. I'll look into a getting a mini fridge and microwave installed in my car asap so I don't miss that 'anabolic window.' By the way there's no limit on protein to which the body can digest. It might take a while but it's used. People should worry about a lot of other things rather than they could make back in time from the gym so they eat.
