After cardio absolutely. You're still breaking down your body, just at a lesser rate than lifting heavy. If you're sprinting, then even more so.

True, there's some bs you have to wade through.

Overall it doesn't matter if it's before or after because the body works on a day to day basis rather than and hourly stopwatch, but many prefer one after their workout.

I don't. But I don't get crazy with the cardio either. Usually 10-20 minutes worth. Also, I don't take protein before I lift. Just after. Because its hard to digest can take blood from the muscles and keep it in the belly. Which can also cause cramping. That's just me, though.

you'd be a complete idiot to take it before you take carbs before to give you energy for the workout. the workout breaks down your muscles, the protien helps build them back up. also it helps.. doesn't solve, but helps with the soreness if you get some good protein after a solid workout.

If you don't eat some type of recovery food after any type of workout you're hurting yourself.

Fatass here. But I've done a lot of research since I started working out about a year ago and have seen progress in the last year. To answer the question of the OP, yes. You should be taking in a lot of protein every day, not just lift days. You don't necessarily NEED to take in the protein after a workout unless you're working out in a fasted state, but there are benefits of taking in protein after a workout. This is sincerely the BEST workout advice page I've ever seen in my life: LINK Dude backs everything up with scientific studies and/or medical journals. It's legit.

Eat a high protein meal with a protein shake ~30 min after your workout. This is when your body is in recovery mode. For the first 30 mins after you finish, your muscles are still innervated and not in full repair mode.

I don't do protein after cardio, shakes are heavy on my stomach. My muscles aren't recovering, its my lungs/feet/etc. I just do the norm but drink extra water and maybe increase sodium depending on how much water loss (I measure weight before and after cardio).

Correct. ~30 minute window.

I don't think a lot of people have. I trained with HJ Adams (former Strength and Speed Conditioning coach for the Saints) and he was the one that informed me of it.

It's not really 30 minutes. More like an hour and a half. There's no need to rush home to get your protein.
