You'll get an extra tug of the nuts, but yes.

but how LONG does it take to get a passport? Say you don't have one and have to fly across the country for a funeral. ?? Serious question.

You will not need a passport to fly domestically in the US. End of story.

Yeah, I fly every week and wouldn't want to take any extra time in dealing with the brain trust that is the TSA in explaining that one.

You must not be too bright. This is 100% false. Good luck trying to get through TSA without a government issued ID. By far the dumbest post I've seen on here in a while.

So when I walk up to the TSA person who is checking the boarding pass and ID's and I say I don't have a photo ID, what happens next?

Yeah, you have the dumbest post thus far. You do not need ID. Not saying it is easy if you don't, but people go through without it everyday.

Pull you to the side and try to confirm you identity through other means. Database, credit card, Facebook, whatever means they decide.

Why would they do that if its not needed?

Do what? They confirm you are who you say you are. Easiest way is government photo ID

Very much true - people lose IDs, don't have IDs, get wallets stolen and deal with it every day. It's inconvenient. The more documentation you have the easier but 100% can fly without a govt ID

For $120 or so getting a passport is worth it. Especially since LA license have the sticker to renew and they always question if it is expired. Can use it in place of a credit card to hold a room as well.

I don't know what you guys are talking about but the TSA agent ALWAYS asks for ID and ticket before entering the secured area. ETA: I'm bringing ID. Not passport.

Better hope no one ever loses their ID while on vacation then. They ask for ID because it is easiest and it keeps from holding up the line. Damn I sound like wiki.......

Yep. All they are doing when the check the government issued ID is to ensure the person matches the ticket holder. Like I said earlier, make proof that your face matches the name on the ticket and you're good to go. Usually with a secondary screening, but now that most of the checkpoints have the full-body scans, you might not even have to deal with the extra nut grab. My wife lost her ID while she was in school in FL and flying back to BR. She got through with her student ID and a course schedule/enrollment certificate.

They get out this red sharpie, mark an x on your boarding pass, and you go through every security protocol and screening they have. Been there done that.

He's actually technically correct, in that you are not legally required to do so. It's just the TSA is dumb enough to think they have this power, kinda like most power hungry jerkoffs.
