Good luck getting a job in a hospital with an LPN though. Most hospitals phased them out.

Yep. Hospitals around BR will not hire an LPN.

"Classes at the Galleria in Metairie"

That's University of Phoenix, she just didn't want to say it.

If you want to be an LPN, just stay in school a lil longer and become and RN and you will make soooo much more.

My wife has been looking at LPN programs. I don't think she'd be psyched about taking off an additional 1.5 years for school, though. How much more rigorous is the RN program?

re: What the frick is an RN nurse?
I wouldn't know the difference cause I went straight for my RN. I would have gotten my BSN but at the time(like an idiot) didn't want to move to NOLA to go to LSU's nursing school(all for a stupid guy). So I went to a local nursing school in BR and got my nursing diploma. Was a five semester program(spring, summer, fall, spring, fall).

Seriously though, she will get her LPN and be very limited in jobs with it. Basically medical offices and nursing homes. And she will make nowhere near what an RN makes. Median salary for an LPN says 41K(quick google)....I make twice that.

ETA: I've been a nurse almost 12 years as well so my pay reflects my years of experience

Any difference between the rigor of an LPN and RN program?

No idea. Nursing school was tough though. But worth it. I will eventually likely have to go back to school via night classes or online for my BSN once my job makes it mandatory for all RNs to have their BSN(one day). Hopefully by then they will fully pay for it as well.

Just googled. Charity school of nursing offers an associates degree in nursing. Once completed they can sit for the RN exam to get licensed.

Oh and don't worry. She didn't waste much money. Delgado is cheap.

pretty wack shite. nurses actually take care of the patients. half of all doctors couldn't give a frick

Yeah but those are usually LPNs going back for their RN though.

This is what my wife did. Went to ULL for a couple years. Dropped out. Got her LPN license. Worked a couple years. Went to LSUE got her Associates Degree in their RN program, took boards and got her license. She is now working for a hospice and makes really good money.
