Shorty, the "reason" that Toddy states is "benefits of marriage." You are a parent and you would like to leave your child with the benefits of your labor that the government now takes at your death and your child doesn't receive all those benefits. If its "benefits" then parents should be able to marry their children to protect them from the government that other wise takes it in those death taxes. If your children are married to you, then the government can't impose those death taxes on them because they are your "spouses."

Who is going to argue in favor of DOMA? The Obama administration has said it is unconstitutional. It is one of those issue on which Obama has "evolved." I think a more accurate description is bait and switch.

First we would have to legalize polygamy so you can marry more than one kid.
