Go somewhere where thy do digital prints. They don't have the possibility of being smudged and rejected.
Josey is correct -- if you can, go to LSP HQ and get printed.
We were told at an instructor meeting last year that about 40% of the "ink & roll" prints get rejected as being unreadable (or not sufficiently readable) when they are submitted for the background check. If you get your prints done at LSP, they cannot be rejected -- these are the best quality prints available. So even if they can't be read, they are accepted.
If your prints get rejected, you'll be notified by mail to submit a new set. This tends to add time to the process.
Plus, digitally scanned prints are submitted electronically. This speeds up the processing of your application/background check.
Digital prints costs $10 at LSP HQ (That works out to about one dollar per finger for most of us
) No cash and no personal checks.
If you live anywhere close to BR, it's worth having your prints done here ...... unless you're in no rush to get your permit.
