This is why capitalism is unappealing to the majority

Time for a further explanation of my IRL discussion years ago with Byron. Byron was a close friend. Extremely intelligent. But a liberal Democrat and Obama supporter. I will paraphrase his philosophy:

Capitalism is not an even playing field. Capitalism favors the talented and the hard working.

Talent can come in many forms:
Actors have talent and become rich even if they are dumb.
Athletes who have talent become rich even if they are dumb.
Intelligence is a god given talent and they can become rich even if they are not physically gifted or good looking.

Hard work is a value system:
An untalented person can become rich through hard work.
If a garbage man and a house cleaner get married, stay off drugs, limit number of children and invest wisely they can accrue a million dollars by retirement age.

OTOH, capitalism punishes those without talent and without a propensity to work hard. You could call them 'Lazy and/or Stupid.' We now have reached a point where they are the majority. And it is perfectly logical for them to vote in their best interests. Which is socialism. You can call them leeches. But the leech survives because it cannot kill it's own prey.

And, since the latter group is producing offspring at a higher rate than the former, America will become a true socialist state. And nothing can be done to stop it.

Agreed. Those Kennedy children really worked hard to enjoy the lifestyle they had growing up. Earned it all.

Tell Byron that they are not leaches, they are more like a teminal cancer. The host (America) will die, it's just a matter of how long before that happens.

And if Zach was going to make an effort to be intellectually honest, he would have included something about inheritance and birth. If you believe Zach, we all start out with the same socioeconomic advantages and we all know that isn't true. The only people who are reluctant to admit it are conservatives.

You still have a chance to succeed if you have the talent and drive.

Of course you do.

Bill Clinton didn't come from the same wealth Nelson Rockefeller did, but went further because of his powerful intellect, energy, drive, and work ethic. And is cooler because he had sex in the oval office.

But because Zach is dishonest, he left out inheritance and birth

Bill Gates' children will probably go further than some poor kids on the southside of Monroe will. Not because his children are inherently better, but because they are more fortunate for having been born to him.

You grossly assume because someone is raised on ten acres with horses and ponies has an advantage over a kid raised in an apartment...

What in life has value?, is money your master?

Of course people don't all start from the same place. That's impossible. I'm conservative, and if I never "admitted" this openly, its only because its so obvious I never thought it needed "admission".

People will NEVER all start from the same place, no matter what the state does. It's a waste of time to try, and I personally don't think its even the state's role or responsibility to attempt to force this silly, Utopian notion.

Of course. They have a wider margin for error

That's on you. Life isn't fair but if we are to talk about American society, success, and capitalism, let's be more intellectually honest about it.

So the pig from a better farm is at fault.

Then why are you yammering on about the Kennedys and people who were more fortunate?

If you would thaw out your brain and get it functioning, you would know that I already explained it
