According to Powerman. Barack "Drill Baby Drill" Obama is a huge advocate to oil and gas. LINK

Rumor has it he will now that the election is done. Might complicate things with Susan Rice more though since her and her husband own $600k worth of stock in the company building it. This project needs approval of the state department.

We currently have 50 deepwater rigs working in the GOM. That's the most we have ever had in deepwater.

The Pipeline was a fight between 2 Dem groups... environmentalists and union workers. UAW told me 6 months ago that he got a union newsletter that explained the deal. They said Obama will block the pipeline until the election to avoid pissing off the enviros. Then, after he wins he will allow the pipeline to mollify the unions. So, if he doesn't OK the pipeline now it means he's a true believer of the enviro left and it means he told a huge lie to the unions.

You are exactly right. I say the greens win this one, not because Obama favors them over unions, but because doing so will hurt a bunch of red States. Chicago politics.

That's good to hear. I'm going down to Cameron, La. in a couple of weeks, and I will take another picture of the "boneyard" to see if there's any difference from a few years ago. Of course, I don't think they're deepwater rigs, but it's still viewed as an indicator of activity in the northwest GOM. This is what it looked like then:

I'm not giving Obama credit for it and I never did My opinion which is 100% motherfricking on spot is that he isn't killing the industry like many idiots claim.

There are several other large deepwater rigs currently in construction for GOM as well The future is deepwater I would say the one that we're building right now is probably going to produce more than all of those in the boneyard combined if I had to guess. Those things look puny

Not exactly. All offshore activity is on public waterbottoms (state/fed) and much of the oil and gas boom out west is on federal land (BLM/FS).
