Obama hasn't even submitted a budget in years much less had a vote on one.

Either:

1) He doesn't know how to create a budget

2) If he doesn't submit a budget, he won't get
blamed for overspending and defray it to Bush
and the Republicans

All he's legally required to do is submit a budget request from Congress. No where in the Constitution does it say he has to submit a passable bill.

Not submitting a passable one just shows the type of "leader" he is.

Everyone puts the blame at Obama's feet. What about the Senate Democrats? WTF?

Could not possibly agree more. frick Harry Ried. Seriously. He has personally blocked every budget that's come from the House from even getting to the Senate floor for debate. So again I say, frick that guy. And his cowboy poetry rodeo THAT IS STILL frickING GETTING FUNDING.

How is it hackish when it's true?

quote:

GOP aides say that in talks with congressional leaders on Capitol Hill on Thursday, Geithner proposed a “permanent” increase in the debt ceiling — meaning changing the law so that Congress no longer has to approve an increase in the statutory borrowing cap, which has been in place since 1917.
He hinted at it in an interview with Bloomberg News a few weeks ago. But the fact that Geithner is proposing giving the administration such authority behind the scenes adds a new dimension to the idea.

And just in case that's a little too much hearsay for you, here's the quote from the Bloomberg interview:

quote:

On Bloomberg TV, “Political Capital” host Al Hunt asked Geithner if he believes “we ought to just eliminate the debt ceiling.”

“Oh, absolutely,” Geithner said.

“You do? Will you propose that?” Hunt asked.

“Well, this is something only Congress can solve,” Geithner said. “Congress put it on itself. We've had 100 years of experience with it, and I think only once--last summer--did people decide to use it to threaten default on the American credit for the first time in history as a tool for political advantage. And that’s not a tenable strategy.”

Hunt then asked: “Is now the time to eliminate it?”

“It would have been time a long time ago to eliminate it,” Geithner said. “The sooner the better.”

I think that's what has been going on with Ried since 2009. Leaving only SS, Medicare/caid & Defense spending in the budget (ie: defense and entitlements), the yearly deficit is still about 200-300 billion. That's BEFORE any mandatory spending (pensions, paychecks, etc). There's no way that raising taxes ("revenue") will ever EVER make up for that vast amount of deficit spending on entitlements and those entitlements are what keep many Dems (and some Republicans) in their cushy elected seats. So of course they want to avoid submitting a budget.

Ried has actively and purposefully blocked any House budgets from going to the Senate floor even for debate. You are too smart to have been thinking he was the only one at that level of power who has zero understanding of how the economy and/or a fiat currency works. I've said for a while now that the entire Obama economic team is dangerously ignorant in basic free-market economic philosophy, this is just more proof of that.

to characterize these as obama budget defeats is just another example of blind conservative obstructionism that panders to tea party primary voters, does nothing to consolidate ideas, and causes further friction.

So Obama has never presented a budget then?

The President has presented a few budgets, none have gotten a single vote (Rep or Dem) of support. That tells me the submissions were so ridiculous that he effectively didn't submit one.

Technically though, he has.
