Well, yeah, Bower made more bowl games. There are are 30 something bowl games now. He was the coach when CUSA was formed and that made it a lot easier to make a bowl. Look at USM's last six coach's win%. (before Johnson)

Bower made Southern Miss football recognizable on a national scale and took them to 10 Bowl games won 4 conference championships as well.

You don't think some of the other coaches would have won a conference championship if they had been in a conference? I'm not knocking Bower. He was a good coach, but he wasn't the first good coach at USM.

none of those guys stayed long enough to say they built anything. in my opinion
shite i remember being in Hattiesburg for homecoming the season before Fedoras great season and tons of people wanting him fired after ECU beat them.

Yeah Bower took USM to bowl games but when you only win 6 or 7 games every year it gets old. I guess since Alabama is so good Saban built that program didn't he? Since there wasn't any good coaches at Alabama before him.

Rumor on our EaglePost board is that Petrino is desperate in getting back into CFB and money is not a issue. They also said he has expressed interest in our job.
Don't know if this is true or not but I still think BP ends up at Auburn

Kinda makes sense. Southern Miss gave Larry Eustachy a chance for a comeback. They hire Petrino, he doesn't go on any motorcycle rides with young women, he can coach an SEC school in 3 years.
I'm still half convinced Brett Favre gets the job.
