Lets get on track here...
ONE. Stop being so f’n negative.
I understand your statement here, but I think that the republicans are only negative towards the democratic policies.
I think republicans, more than democrats, believe in american exceptionalism.
TWO. Closely related, but stop f’n whining.
I agree, but the whining has worked for the dems, so monkey see, monkey do.
THREE. Science is awesome. There’s no reason the GOP can’t be the Party of Science
I agree, however, the second part to your statement is not true.
There is a big reason that the gop can not be the party of science. That reason, as someone has previously called it, is team jesus. How can they be the party of science when a large portion of their base does not believe in evolution?
FOUR. Tax cuts don’t solve everything
FIVE. Don’t oppose things just because Dems do
Agreed. This is because they are fearful that the dems would get credit for these things.
Look the gop has a lot of fail that it has to undo. First, while aligning themselves with the religious right did help GWB win a couple of elections, the religious right is proving to be an anchor in the more recent national elections.
How does a candidate lose the independent voters who are moderates? Well, saying that we poofed into existence 6500 years ago is one way. Saying stupid things like a female body can shut itself down in cases of true rape. Heck, even being against gay marriage will cost you a portion of the moderates.
The republican party got in bed with the religious right. It helped them short term. But it is hurting them now.
The number one thing in my thought process is to swing more libertarian. Allow gay marriage. Allow drugs. Get on the science bandwagon.
That may hurt them in the short term, but it could yield great benefits down the line.
