How about those 11 states leave the US? Let that be the social experiment.

It makes perfect sense. They contribute to the tax burden. They can always just print more money.

For lazy people: it's Hawaii, California, New Mexico, Illinois, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, New York, Maine.

It doesn't make sense. A government worker is not the same as someone on welfare. This is no different for a private contractor that works for the government. Highway contractors, defense contractors, etc. By fox's rationale they should be 'takers' too?

Yes. Not to mention, when benefits are included, they cost taxpayers almost twice what their private sector counterpart makes.

Since when do city/parish/state workers NOT have to pay taxes on their income? What the frick have I been doing working in the private sector my whole life? My first wife worked for the city/parish and I know for DAMN sure she paid income taxes. Sales taxes. Exise taxes. Use taxes. "User Fees." Gas Taxes. Hazard Taxes. I was a Graduate Assistant at a nearby university and had to pay taxes on my tuition waiver.

I will be the first to admit that we need some serious welfare reform. But lumping a working person with the welfare mooch is misleading. You have one group that is a complete leach on society and another that works for their paycheck.

Exactly.... Government collects revenue (via taxes and levys) and pays for government projects and government employees. Those working and paid by the government are a tax burden (not said in a negative context), just as contractors are hired and paid to do state projects (roads, bridges, parks, etc., etc.), and those who collect state benefits, etc., what ever those may be.... We the tax payers have to pay for all those things...

And state workers, state paid contractors, etc. do not pay taxes for these things as well?
