This is a good one. You never used to have so much security at athletic events and in airports. You could smoke where and when you wanted. You could have a drink in the car with you. You used to be able to buy guns and ammo at a younger age and without all the paperwork. Geez, we have lost alot of freedom since I was born. Being paddled at school is another good one mentioned in this thread.

MDMA was legal before it wasn't.

discriminating in terms of employment on the basis of race, sex, ethnicity A business refusing service on the basis of race, sex, etc. Including racial covenants in property sales documents, primarily to prohibit sales to blacks (if you ever look at property records, you will be shocked at how common these were). driving without insurance all sorts of fish/game violations (e.g., no limits on take, hunting over baited fields, etc.)

Well, I guess that one doesn't count. How about religious tests for political office? Public taxes used to pay for ministers' livelihoods.

drunk driving used to be legal, then it was tolerated before being illegal. I remember my parents getting fricking sauced at friends house and driving us kids home. Yowzaa. cannabis, heroin, opium, and cocaine all used to be legal.

Ditto the 1984 Vanessa Williams Penthouse, which had a 16 year old Traci Lords as Pet of the Month.
I had that mag and gave it away. It was most faptastic. Traci had a fake i.d. that said she was 21 and from Florida, but she was really a 16 y.o. runaway from Ohio. She was actually underage when she "acted" in some of her movies.

and drinking and driving was no problem. You could have an open beer in the car and no one cared.

Haven't read the thread so might be repeating: Open containers of beer while driving. I recall a softball tournament 30 miles away. The guys picked me up at 8 am and they were already drinking. Seat belts may have existed in 1950 but I never saw one. And I never knew anyone who died in a crash. The original Coke formula contained small amounts of cocaine. Kids could bring guns to school. Many of my HS friends kept pistols and hunting rifles in their cars in the student parking lot.

Not really a legal issue, but many businessmen had bars in their offices and drank at work. My grandfather had one in his office and would offer a drink to his clients and business partners. Don't see that today, unfortunately.

PM, you may have heard of the phrase "the 3 martini lunch". Those did happen in the business world. But everyone had a coat and tie on so it was OK.
