Perhaps so, but this is a health care thread. Please try to stay on topic. Sincerely, - The Grand Thread Hijacker. But just because you can point to things that we don't have a right to, doesn't in any way affect whether or not we have a right to health care.

Answer the question. Is it a right to healthcare or insurance? Healthcare would include anything from a Band Aid to the most advanced brain surgery. Is it everyones right to have the most advanced technology and surgery around? If not, who decides what level of healthcare is a "Right" and why? You seem to avoid these basics questions. The devil is in the details.

X infinity! You have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Nowhere does it say you have the right to consumer goods and services provided by the govt. of the United States.

No, YOU answer the question motherfricker. Do we have a right to health care? If "no", just state it outright, if "Yes, with qualifications" state what the qualifications are.

NO....I stated it outright you dumb motherfricker..I guess you couldn't even pick up on that. Shocker as it is clear you don't know the difference between healthcare and healthcare insurance. I see that when hacks like you can't answer questions you resort to name calling. Classic hack progressive move.

Lets say that we design a matrix which plugs in factors like age, income, education, and overall contribution to society. If you meet the standard according to your age, then you get whatever treatment will likely benefit you the most. It's time we started acting like a modern country. Everyone is going to die, the sooner we accept an approach like the matrix approach, the sooner we can establish an objective approach to our healthcare, and all live on the same page. It will weed out the lazy and uneducated.

So how are those rights protected against illness? We have a right ot life. Okay, so if I have a life-threatening illness, I have a right to have that illness cured if it's possible. Right? Otherwise, what does it mean to have a right to life? If my life is threatened by no fault of my own, is there no protection under this right?

This whole thread is based on a false premiss. We already do have a right to health care, it has been the law for about half a century. What some are REALLY arguing in this thread isn't a question of access, but rather do we have a right to demand other people pay for our products and services.

So before PPACA you did not have the right to get your illness cured? I'm not sure you know what the hell you are talking about. Health care is different than Health insurance.

You might be surprised to know that of all the legislation since our country's founding, hardly any of it is "spelled out in the constitution".
Some people would even contend that this is the problem.

I am staying on topic. You putz. If you believe that the above examples are rights then yes having healthcare is a right. I do not believe that healthcare is a right and neither are any of the examples listed above. It is a ridiculous premise that healthcare is a right but maybe you can sway me. Why is healthcare a right?

Yet it isn't surprising at all that you can't seem to distiguish between the questions: "You disagree that we have a right to health care?" Which is what I asked, and, "Do we have a right to healthcare insurance?" which is NOT what I asked. It's also not surprising that you haven't been following closely enough in the thread to read my statement, "first you have to establish that it is indeed a right, then you go about figuring out how to protect it." You're just in such a rush to do your little endzone dance, you're ignoring the questions.

All of these things fall under happiness. The only right you have is the pursuit of these things.

You are correct. But as long as we have such a large segment of our population who refuses to understand this, our system will be piecemeal and inefficient.

How are they protected against death? Wouldn't it follow that government must then protect you against death? I suppose one would have to look to government as salvation and everlasting life.
